"the shit hits the fan" or "lost dog"

Hey Journal!

Today has been a LONG day! It's weird because it all just snuck up on us. The plan was to have a pretty relaxing Saturday but one thing led to another and all sorts of weird stuff happened and before we knew it is was 11:00 at night!

We got up this morning at about 8:30 to go to Dan's follow-up podiatrist appointment. His foot has been feeling much better but they wanted him to come back to get it checked out again and to make sure it was all healing well.

The appointment was 9:15 but they didn't take him in until about 9:30 which irritated me a bit. The ladies at the counter were nice. The office was weird... I hadn't gone with him the first time he went so I had never been there before. It was really old-fashioned looking and a bit strange. The window where you go to check in looked like an old movie theater with those little circle things that you talk through.

There was also a weird lady waiting for her appointment who kept talking about how her son was in germany and was texting her. She was wild.

Anyway, Dan went in, got checked out, and the doctor said everything is doing very well and he should have no more problems with this issue. He said that Dan can go back to walking like he was before it started to hurt.

When that was over, we made a very quick stop to say hi to my mom and to look for some more Pokemon cards! LAst time we were there I found one deck of cards but I knew I had more, I thought I had 3, but I couldn't locate them. This time we went down to the cabinet in the basement and they were there! It's weird because they weren't really hidden so I don't know how I missed them the first time!

After that we went to get bagels at Blvds and then went to the park across from the library to eat.

At the point, I got a text from Dan's mom...regarding the whole ridiculous situation with Dan's dad.

Dan and I went to the mall to look for new New Balance shoes. Dan wants to get back to walking and his doctor said he should get New Balance walking shoes to protect his feet from having this happen again.

We went to the New Balance store next to IHOP but it was really weird. It was empty, just two sales guys and us. The shoes were crazy overpriced, too! To make a clean escape, I pulled out my phone and said, "What time are we meeting at IHOP?" Dan said 11, we should head over soon! (It was 10:55) and we ran!

We wound up getting the shoes at Penney's for about $50. Much better than $136 at the NB store!

Next we went to Old Navy. Dan got a bunch of socks. They were on sale for 1.74 but came up .68 at the register! Two pairs in each pack, means he got 8 pairs of socks for $2.72! It was crazy!

After Old Navy, we went over to Dan's parents' house and had a little talk out on the patio. We all sat at the picnic table and said our piece. It was weird, for sure, but I think in the long run it was good to have had this discussion. We were there for about 2 hours, I think.

We had made plans to go out to lunch with Linda and because we were going to be a while, she was coming out to us. I called her to tell her we were on our way and she said that just as she was leaving her house she saw a stray dog walking down the street and she just had no choice, she had to stop, get out, and take the dog to try to find its owner!

She had been looking for the owner for two hours and had already brought it to the vet and had it checked to see if it was microchipped! It was, but there was no data associated with it.

When we arrived at her house, she was not home. They were walking the neighborhood to try to locate the owner or anyone who knew who the dog could belong to! We were quite hungry for lunch but we had to find the owner before we could eat.

We walked up and down all the streets nearby and Cameron went to the door to ask! It was quite the adventure. It was weird because one thing kept leading us to another. At one house, where a shirtless man answered the door, his daughter directed us around the corner to Mr. Bongiorno's house. Mr. Bongiorno was said to know everyone in the neighborhood and he would be the best chance to solve this mystery.

Meanwhile, as we walked the neighborhood we kept thinking we'd see a car or someone out walking to try to FIND THEIR DOG! We did not.

Anyway, at Mr. Bongiorno's house, we rang the bell but got no answer for awhile. Eventually I saw the front curtains move a bit, and I knew someone was home and peeking out! The door opened shortly after that and out came Mr. Bongiorno.

He was quite an interesting character! He was very nice, but wild and he provided quite an entertaining chapter to this story!

He did not, however, know who the dog belonged to but he DID offer to keep the dog "if it came to that."

From there we walked some more streets where one house led us to another and finally to another where they had an almost identical dog! In this house, there was a woman.. Joanne, with a really thin little belt fastened tightly around her waist! She was wild. This stop took us about 30 minutes where there was some confusion about snacks and stomach aches. Linda told them we were hungry and the man offered a snack, but he was offering a snack to the DOG and not to us! The woman also said that the dog had a sensitive stomach and Dan thought the man had a stomach virus! Such a strange encounter!

Finally we went back to Linda's and made up some "FOUND DOG" signs. Then we made copies and plastered them around the neighborhood. After about 15 minutes, the phone rang... "Is this Linda?..... YOU FOUND PRINCESS!!!"

Now, Cameron had already changed the dog's name to Oreo Schmoreo III. But Princess is okay, too... I guess.

Thank goodness we found the owner... I couldn't wait any longer for lunch or, as Cameron said, "it's so late now it's not lunch anymore!" All I had to eat all day so far was a bagel at about 10am!

The person whose dog it was coincidentally lives on a nearby street with the exact same house number as Linda! That was funny. We went back and returned the dog. They tried to give a reward but Linda refused and then we left and FINALLY got dinner!

We went to a nice place called Mama Theresa's! I got rigatoni and sausage. Our waiter was really good and really attentive. He was on top of everything at the table (refilling the bread, our drinks, and making sure everything was good) without being all over us and annoying!

So, we had a nice dinner and then capped off the evening with a trip to Target! I had to pee when we arrived and then had to go again shortly after as we walked around. I think I had too much Sprite at dinner!

The second time I was in the bathroom, Dan and Cameron had a photo shoot dabbing with the giant animal head mask things! I missed all the fun!

Anyway, on the way home we had to stop to pull down a bunch of the signs that we had put up! Linda didn't want her phone number all over the neighborhood for no good reason! lol

So, we headed home after that and when we got home we were just exhausted. We each showered up and then watched the first episode of Kevin Probably Saves the World. It was good -- but I'm confused about a bunch of things. We'll have to see how it goes from here! After that we watched Marvel's Inhumans. I like that show, too!

Now it's FINALLY time for bed and I am in need of a good, long night's sleep!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
