"cold mdw continues" or "green to clean in progress"

Hey Journal!

Well, today was another COLD day of MDW 2017. Of course. This year has been absolutely terrible. It's been terrible because of my pain issues, it's been terrible because of the weather. It's just not been good so far. Maybe we can make a real turn-around this summer but it's not looking so hot right now.

This morning I got up around 9:00 and Dan and I watched some TV before going out to tend to the pool. Today the real fun began. Yesterday we had put in the Soda Ash to raise the pH and, hoping that worked, we put in the Green to Clean, shocked the pool, and ran the filter. Throughout the day we backwashed and checked on the filter. Things were going well.

The water changed from a dark green to a minty green by the end of the day and we're hoping to wake up to a much better situation!

We went to Leslie's in the afternoon and bought some things we needed. We got a new gasket for the pump, new nibs for the ladder, and a tube of lube! The lube is supposed to help make better seals around all the parts that get screwed in and stuff. It's definitely needed because we've had some non-air-tight areas.

After that we went to BWW for lunch. We played some trivia and then afterwards we came home.

We tended to the pool some more, watched an episode of Parenthood, and then we went out to Target. After that we helped my mom with her iPad. She was at Panera so we met her there and I got a soup for dinner.

When we got home it was about 9:30 and we had to backwash again and shock the pool again.

By the way -- In case I wasn't clear before...it was so cold all day. It was actually the warmest in the morning and it got colder and gloomier as the day went on.

After that we came inside, showered up, and then watched another episode of Parenthood.

I also played some Pacman 256 today and I got a new high score and also completed a chain of 256! (The chain was a little bit anticlimactic!)

Alas, now it's time for bed. It's so nice to have a three-day-weekend even if the weather has been crappy and tomorrow is supposed to be RAIN.
