frank's here: for a limited time only

Hey Journal!

This morning we got up and watched Marvel’s Inhumans and we finished off Stranger Things!

I really really liked the second season and I actually think I may like it more than the first! My favorite parts were Dustin’s “you ate my cat” and Dustin’s weird lion sound! Rrrrrrrrrrr!

At about 11:00 we got ready and headed it to Brooklyn to meet up with Frank! He came to NY for a day and a half to run a 5k and to volunteer at the finish line of the NY Marathon tomorrow.

We suggested meeting in Brooklyn and Frank wanted to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge! He said he had always wanted to do it and we had never done that, either!

We got in just before 11:00 and parked near Fort Greene Park. We found free street parking but the first spot we found was confusing. There was a really old looking sign that said “No Parking Saturday” but it didn’t say which Saturday! There were tons of cars parked there and I’m pretty sure it would have been fine but we were afraid to take the chance. So, we moved around the corner to a street that had no signs! Phew!

We walked towards Frank and he walked towards us and we met nearby! We decided to have lunch and walked to a restaurant, kinda a diner, called Junior’s. It was really close by. I got French toast and two eggs. Actually I ordered one egg (for an additional 1.75) and they gave me two. I don’t know if they charged us correctly. I forgot to check! Ugh!

Anyway, when we finished, we headed towards the Brooklyn Bridge! We walked up the approach and then it turned into a little boardwalk-like area. It was really neat but also really crowded. They have half of the walkway reserved for bikes and the other side for walkers going both ways! The walking side was cramped. I think they should ban bikes from the bridge!

It wasn’t as windy as I thought it may be on the bridge and we got some nice pictures as we walked across. One of my favorite things was that they had signs to tell people not to put locks on the bridge and they all had funny/weird themes.

After the Bridge we walked around the park that’s basically under the bridge.

As we walked past the area where we saw Katy Perry several years ago, we noticed that they completely redid the warehouse that we had to wait in. Last time it was completely empty inside and now it’s been converted into some type of hipster space!

It started to get a little chilly as it got later and after the park Frank had to head back to Manhattan. We walked with him to a subway station and, conveniently, it had an underpass to the other side of the road and we needed to cross.

We got back to our car after a long walk. We stopped at CVS to get something to drink and while we were there we saw quite a scene!

An older, disheveled black woman walked in with a man who I think was his son and a child who was her grandson. The kid was probably about 8 or 9.

The woman went for the beer section and picked up two 40oz Michelob bottles. The kid was pleading with her and grabbing her arm telling her not to buy them. Then he was saying “just one” and she would say "TWO!!" and the kid would yell "one!!" They got ahead of us on line and the kid was still pleading with her and the woman was telling the father to tell the kid to stop and FINALLY she agreed and put back one of the beers! It was interesting.

So we got to the car and headed home. There was a bit of traffic but we got home around 7:00!

We showered up and then watched some TV! The clocks are going back tonight and we were pretty tired so we’re off to bed now!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight! :)
