"return to kppc"

Hey Journal!

Well today was an absolutely AMAZING day off from work! I can't think of a better way to spend a day off without going away on vacation. This is my kind of staycation!

Dan and I got up at 9:00 and we were happy that we got to get a little more sleep than usual. When we got out of bed, we got ready to go out for breakfast. My cousin said he would be here at 11, so we had about an hour and half.

We went to Relish in Kings Park. This was the second time we were there... the first being for Jen B's birthday breakfast a month ago. It wasn't too crowded, but somehow we managed to be seated in the EXACT same spot as we were for Jen B's. How does that even happen!?

As we ate, we observed that were the youngest people there by far! There were lots of old people out for breakfast this morning. I guess that's the real weekday crowd. It seems fun to be retired and just spend your days milling around doing a whole lot of nothing.

I got the two eggs with ham and hash browns. It was very enjoyable. After we ate, we headed home and waited for my cousin to arrive.

Dan got here around 11:20 and then we headed over to the psych center! The police guy that we were meeting wasn't going to be there until 12ish, so we spent the time driving around and exploring a little on our own! We went over near the warehouse/receiving building which had a wide open door and we went inside to take some photos.

We drove around a bit, and then it was time to meet up with the guy. He drove us around and showed us all the buildings. I think he thought we had never been there before by the things he was telling us. He showed us where all the entrances to the buildings are... which windows and doors aren't sealed shut, and then left us on our own to check it out!

As we were walking around Building 93, we ran into some girls who were also walking towards the hole in the fence. It was obvious that we were all going to the same place, so Dan just said, "Going in?" and they said "Yes, you?" So we went together!

The girls we met were named "J" and "Tamara." They were from Valley Stream, and that's really all I know about them! One girl had never been inside before, but the other had been and she knew her way around like the back of her hand. She was good, and I'm glad we found them. If not, we would have been wandering aimlessly. Not that we didn't do a little wandering, but this girl knew which doors were locked shut and when to switch over the the other stairwell. Most importantly, she knew which sides of the balcony to go out on. Getting to some of them was more precarious than getting to others, so she showed us the way.

We spent a LONG time inside and really checked the place out from top to bottom. We also went to the first floor reception area which was really cool because it looked nothing like the rest of the building. It was all nice wood and dark paneling. It was probably to make the visitors feel better about leaving their relatives in this place.

One of the craziest things was a locked room that had a nice bed, two nice chairs, and a table in it. It was wild. It was clean. Someone must have the key and use it as their personal hangout place! Come to think of it, Re said her grandma gave her a skeleton key.... I wonder if it would have worked!

So, like I said, we explored all of the place and saw some really amazing stuff. It's so much cooler going in the daytime. The last time I was inside 93 was over 10 years ago (4/17/03, to be exact) at NIGHT. It was cool, but this was better! I also got hundreds of excellent pictures.

Oh, I forgot to mention that in between our tour from the police guy and going inside, we went to Main Street pizza for some lunch. We had our pizza to give us energy for the 13 stories of stairs we had to climb!

Anyway, when we finally left the building, we simply said "Bye... Nice meeting you." to our new friends and walked in opposite directions. It's weird. I miss them. I wish we could be Facebook friends, but I don't know any more about them.

So, we went to 7-11 with my cousin, got some post-psych Slurpees, and then he dropped us off at home.

Dan and I went in the pool and then took a shower. We put our clothes right into the washing machine to wash off any gross crap that may have followed us home!

After the pool, I took a shower and Dan went to take a run around the neighborhood. For dinner I had a TV dinner... Swedish meatballs... and now my stomach hurts a little. I think this happened last time I had that one, too.

We watched some TV and a show on Netflix about Pixar. Now it's almost time for bed. We're gonna watch password and then get to sleep!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
