"columbus day with connor and cameron"

Hey Journal!

Well, a really busy weekend has come to a close! Today was Columbus Day and I was happy to have the day off from work. We spent it doing some fun stuff with Connor and Cameron and here's how it all went down.

This morning I woke up to go to the bathroom at about 7:30. I came back to bed and was SO happy that I could get more sleep. I was also happy that Connor and Cameron were sleeping and was hoping we'd made it a little longer before having to get up and start the day.
That was not meant to be, however, as about 20 minutes later my phone started buzzing. It was the alarm AGAIN. This alarm is getting to be a pain in my ass.

I couldn't really get back to sleep after that and Connor woke up around 9:00 to go to the bathroom. After he went to the bathroom he came in our room and jumped on top of dan to wake him up." He said that that's how he wakes everyone up. He said he was a hungry so we said that we were going to go to IHOP for breakfast so he ran into the other room and used his technique to wake cameron up!

He literally jumped on top of her and was growling, "WAKE UPPPPP" in her face! it really didn't seem like the most peaceful way to start your day! Poor Cameron!

Anyway, with everyone up we went downstairs and watched a little Press Your Luck while we got ready. Dan combed cameron's hair, they brushed their teeth, and then got dressed!

We got to IHOP and, as usual, they tried to give us one of those creepy tables near the server station. We said we'd wait and it was only about a minute until a regular table opened up.

Connor and Cameron ordered the scary face pancakes and I got the 2x2x2. I got bacon instead of sausage today and the bacon was really good. Connor didn't like his candy corn so he gave some to me. He tried Boysenberry syrup and liked it and suggested that Cameron do the same. She gave it a try and was NOT a fan. Not at all! I got a great picture of her expression after trying it!

After we ate we had to come back to the house quickly to get Connor's medicine. We had forgotten it here and he really needed it. He was a little wild at breakfast. Not bad, but definitely could use some calming down.

I ran in and got that and then we went to Port Jeff to do some Pokemon hunting. I let them tether their iPads to my phone so they could connect. Cameron's worked, but Connor's app wouldn't get past the Niantic screen. He tried several times and had no luck. He just gave up and Cameron played by herself. She caught a LOT of Pokemon that she didn't have, though! She was really excited!

We walked around a little bit... down by the water and then around the streets. It was a little chilly by the water but not so bad farther away. We made our way back to the car, dropped off the iPads, and then we went to this little museum. It was a maritime museum and Dan had found something online about making a "biome."

It turned out to be a really lame place and the biome thing was a little stupid but, at the same time they seemed to have a lot of fun there. There was this "rice boat" in the back on the museum that Cameron was in for most of the time! She loved it. Connor played with all of the stuff they had on display. We played with the Nano city, where we had to balance wooden blocks on a wobbly little table, the electricity area, the boat simulator, and a bunch of other little things.

We left there around 2:00 and then headed to Yaphank Farm. I wanted to do some fall stuff and was hoping they were open. We arrived around 2:30 and they were open, but they were scheduled to close at 3! It was kinda weird because the place was packed and it was such a nice day. Since it was closing we didn't do any of the real activities like the hayride or the pumpkin picking. Instead, we checked out the animals.

First we saw the pics. They were HUGE! I don't think I've ever seen pigs that big before! They were wild. The best was when one of the pigs started peeing. It was insane... it was coming out like water from a hose! All the kids nearby were laughing at that and then another giant pig came over and started licking it up! It was unreal! One random kid yells, "THIS IS THE GROSSEST MOMENT OF MY LIFE!"

We saw the goats, sheep, and cows and then we headed over to to the corn maze. It was open, so we just walked in. It was a pretty lame maze but we wandered around for about 5 minutes and then Connor found the way out.

After that we checked out more of the animals and then, at about 3:30, they were starting to close things down so we headed for the exit.

We stopped at Wendy's on the way home to get some food. I got the spicy nuggs, a baked potato, and a crispy chicken sandwich. While we ate we played with the game that Connor got in his kids meal! It was this headband that you put a little picture in and then everyone tries to describe it to you. It was fun, we each took turns. The best part was when he first opened it up I was getting some napkins and when I got back he had it on with a random banana photo on his head.

We got Frostys and then headed home. We stopped quickly and I just ran in to get their stuff. I had texted Linda and we decided to meet up at the Target in Huntington!
It took us a while to get there with the traffic but we arrived exactly on time. Linda was already there and we headed inside and did some shopping, of course.

The most notable purchase we made were these little mini-pie tin things that we used later in the night to made pudding and put inside.

After Target we said our goodbyes and then headed home. I showered up and then we watched HTGAWM. For dinner we had Target frozen pizza. I made one and then Dan and I decided to share it and make a second one.

We relaxed, watched some TV, and just hung out the rest of the night.

Now it's time for bed. I had wanted to get to bed around 9:00 but then there's just part of me that can't do that because I don't want to go to bed so early. I don't know! I hope I wake up feeling refreshed in the morning!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
