fun day at sea

Hey Journal!

Well, our second to last fun day at sea is coming to a close but we did have a great time today!

We woke up around 9:30 this morning and got ready to head out. We had breakfast on the lido and I had some Lucky Charms, French Toast, and some English bacon.

At 10:30 we attended the Towel Animal folding class in the Liquid Lounge. I always love making towel animals and even though the demonstration is usually pretty much the same, I've always forgotten how to make the towel animals since the last cruise!

We made a dog, an elephant, a snake (really just a rolled up towel!,) and also a monkey!

After that, we walked around and then did our daily Sudoku/crossword puzzle.

We had some food in the restaurant -- they had this great afternoon buffet -- I had beef stew and potato croquettes along with one chicken finger. It was a good find.

Dan went out to sit in the sun for a while and I came back to the room to relax for a bit. Eventually I made my way up to the deck and sat out in the shade for a while. Dan sat in the sun, I sat in the shade.

We wanted to go in the hot tub around 4:30 but it was too sunny for my fair skin so we commandeered a clamshell up in the Serenity area for a bit. I fell asleep there for a while and then when I got up we went in the hot tub.

When we got in there were these WILD girl in there. It was a group of about 5 people but the two girls were out of control.... they were making quite a scene. We got in and minded our own business on the side of the hot tub but within minutes they zeroed in on us!

They were super-drunk and a little overwhelming but, at the same time, they were really nice. Monica was one girl's name and the other was Lindsay. Monica was like 2 inches form our faces when she was talking to us and she was also super apologetic about everything she did before she did it. She must have said, "I'm sooooo sorry" about 50 times. She and her husband, who looks very much like Barack Obama, are from Austin, Texas. She is 30 and her husband is 31. They were on the cruise with some friends from college and Lindsay who they had met on a cruise three years ago. Lindsay is from Maryland but has a brother who lives in East Islip.

It was quite the experience in the hot tub, but again they were super-nice.

When they got out, Dan and I stayed in for about 15 minutes longer to take in some quiet time! We looked up at the stars and tried to figure out what we were looking at!

Then, we got out and went into the Sauna for a bit. I was in for only about 3 or 4 minutes. It was so weird, there were this old guy sitting right near the entrance. He had the big wooden bucket full of water and was using the large wooden spoon to scoop more water onto the coals or whatever it is.

It was so weird. Watching him spoon the water was like something out of Ancient Rome!

Anyway, I got out and then Dan followed shortly after me. We came back to the room after that and got showered up and changed for dinner.

Tonight was the second and last formal evening!

We went to dinner around 8:15 and AGAIN, that annoying woman at the dinner reservation table pissed me off. A few nights now we've made requests for where to sit and we've made it perfectly clear that we don't mind waiting if a table in the area we want is not available. She always makes it sound like she's accommodated us and when we get to the dining room she's put us in the wrong place. So, we have to have the actually maitre'd person fix it. One night we just bypassed her completely because she's clearly incompetent, but she did it again tonight so I'm going to make it a point to leave a strong worded comment about her on my survey at the end of the cruise.

Meanwhile, Dinner was good tonight and I had a great meal. It was filet mignon and short ribs. I didn't like any of the appetizers today but the entree was really good.

I had the melting cake for dessert and then after dinner we did a few laps around the ship and then got changed for tonight's events.

It's weird -- I feel like we've made up less names for people on this cruise than we usually do but one of the reasons for that is that most of the people on our radar we've talked to and know their REAL names. It's interesting.

Anyway, there was a song game thing in the lobby that we hung out and watched for a while and then we went to the lounge for an 18+ Scavenger Hunt at 11!

It was wild -- we wound up on a team of about 10 people and by chance, Brittany and Allison were on our team, too. They had a bunch of random things we'd have to do and then run up on the dance floor to get points for our team.

At one point we were in our underwear running around the room. It was funny, but in the end they didn't really keep good track of the points and it didn't matter anyway!

Once the game was over we did laps around the ship on decks 4 and 5 and then up to the Lido to get some lemonade before bed!

Now we're back in our room and going to get to sleep. Tomorrow is our last sea day. Our last day. It's already so depressing but I really really want to make the most of it!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
