February 15, 2017 - 11:57 p.m.
bonaire

Hey Journal!

Today we slept nice and late and woke up at 11:30am. We got dressed and headed up to the Lido deck for breakfast which was open until 12.

I had Cheerios, French Toast, and chocolate milk.

After we ate, we went out on deck 11 and watched the boat dock in Bonaire. It was nice that the ship got in later today so we got a chance to see the arrival in port.

Since we were approaching very slowly, I went to go check out some other vantage points. On Deck 9, all the way forward, there's a little door that lets you out over the bridge and you can get a nice view from there. However, before we docked I went back up to 11 where Dan was.

Once that was over, we headed back to the room and put on our sunscreen. We headed down to Deck 0 at about 1:20 and got off the ship! There was only a slight delay in getting off because they had someone who had to be taken out from the medical center first.

When we got out, we walked down a long row of tents that had excursions and tours available. We went to all of them and then decided on this one tour that we liked. It was an open-air tour of the island with about 6 or 7 stops along the way. A group of thirteen people came and took the whole back of the vehicle so Dan and I got to sit inside for $10 less. It actually worked out really well because we had a lot of room, we got all the breeze, and the sun wasn't beating directly on us the whole time!

The driver was ????????. He was really nice and wild and funny. He talked to us most of the time because it was a little difficult to hear what the actual guide was saying in the back. He gave us the same information and it was like we had our own personal tour!

So, first we passed by this salt mining area. It was amazing. They had these humongous salt mountains. Then we went to see these old slave houses from when the island was first settles.

We stopped at a little Chinese food restaurant to get drinks and snacks, and then we went to the other side of the island. It's a really nice island and it's not dangerous or anything. It's a Dutch-controlled island.

We stopped at a place called 1,000 steps, which was a long stairway down to the ocean. It was very cool. We saw a bunch of flamingos and just got a really great overview of the island.

The whole tour was about 3.5 hours and it was so worth it. It was $25 a person. I was very very happy with it.

When it was over, they dropped us off at the ship and Dan and I walked around and checked out some of the stores near the dock.

I also searched for some free wifi which was surprisingly hard to find! I finally found some and a ton of e-mails came flooding in! I just wanted to see if I got anything important, but I hadn't.

We got back on the ship and out on our bathing suits to go in the hot tub! We went up to the lido deck and got some pizza beforehand.

It was about 6:30 when we got in the hot tub and I was shocked that there was just one other couple in there when we got in. It's usually packed! It was perfect, though. We sat in there for a while and had a great view overlooking the island.

We got out around 7:30, showered up, and then went to dinner around 8:15. We sat upstairs overlooking the whole restaurant again tonight and we had a great waitress. She was so much better than last night's guy and she was so fun, friendly, and did a great job.

I had the Potato Leek soup (on the menu as Leek and Potato soup) and also the flat iron steak.

For dessert I had some vanilla ice cream and then we headed to the "theater" for the show. It was some guy doing tricks with a giant yo-yo thing. He did juggling and stuff like that, too.

At 10:15 we headed to the deck for tonight's 80's Rock-N-Glow party! It was interesting. They gave out a bunch of glow sticks and neon wristbands and we all danced to 80s music.

It was a cool concept but after like 30 minutes to entire entertainment staff quietly disappeared and the party continued with just music playing and no coordination. It was odd.

Dan and I did some laps around the ship and then wound up at the late night buffet. I had some penne and meatballs and stuff.

Now we're back in the room, getting ready for bed, and excited for Aruba in the morning!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
