"ice storm" or "st. patrick's day"

Hey Journal!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

So how about that ice out there. Wild!! I was sooo looking forward to Spring, and it was looking promising there for a while, and then last night... BAM, back with the winter.

Anyway, today was a crazy day....

I got up really early, cause Dan and I had planned an appointment to go to our new place and measure so that we can buy furniture. (Even though we got the couch already!) So... We got up even EARLIER because Dan's mom said the cars were gonna need a lot of work to get out.

We got up and went out to shovel, and it was unbelievable..you really couldnt shovel cause the ice was too thick, Dan's dad was working on getting his car out, and we tried to get ours cleaned off. Our cars were in the neighbor's driveway, but the neighbor's son came home last night and parked at the END of the driveway and blocked us in, so we couldn't get them out till he moved his car. Anyway, we cleaned off the cars, and the neighbor's car was stuck on a giant snow mound. See, he got home at like 5am, and he wasn't able to park in his driveway because we were there (oops) but it didn't matter cause he tried to get close, and the plows had made a big hill, and his car got stuck trying to get over it.

So, he came out and tried to move his car, but it was stuck on the lump, so we tried to push it, but it didn't do anything. We then went inside for a while, and no one was able to free their cars. Dan's dad had an appointment at work, and the people didn't cancel. So...he kept trying to get his car out... then Dan called to cancel our appointment for the measurements, and just after that Dan's dad freed his car, and his appointment cancelled, so he was gonna drive us there.. but it was too late. Grrrrrrr.

So, We read the newspaper and got ready to go for Dan's tax appointment. We went to the bank first to get some letter we needed, but they didn't have the right letters, it was annoying.

We then went over to H&R Block to do the taxes. The guy we had was really nice, he was crazy, but funny.

So, that took a little while, and then we went to Bed, Bath, and Beyond to look around.

We came back to Dan's, then went to meet my mom for dinner at Branchinelli's at 5:00. We had a nice dinner, I got the Baked Ravioli, and afterwards we wanted to go to Target. We went to the one in Commack, and as we arrived we noticed that there were very few cars in the parking lot. I thought it was strange, but figured it was because of the snow or something... SO...a sign on the door said, "WE ARE CLOSED DIE TO AN EMERGENCY." There were two police cars out front, and a LIPA truck, and there were no lights on inside at all. Wild.

Obviously we couldn't go there, so we went to Linens and Things, and King Kullen.

On the way back to the car, the lights WERE on in Target, but it still wasn't open, and it was funny watching people go up to the door and look all confused as to why they can't get in. LOL

Anyway, we were planning on going to an Irish celebration with Lau and Re, but I'm soooo exhausted. I didn't realize how tired I was until I sat down to watch Myth Busters and I was falling asleep!!

So... I'm calling it an early night..! Hope you all had a Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
