"welcome to montreal" or "fred and charles"

Hey Journal!

Wow... What a ranom day yesterday!! It is currently Sunday morning, and I have to inform you about the wildness of Saturday.

We woke up at 3:00am and left for Montreal at 3:30. We made excellent time through the city DESPITE the expressway being closed for like 10 exits and there being a lot of slow trucks on the service road, and all the lights. After we went over the bridge we sailed through upstate NY. We wanted to stop for some breakfast, and so we got off at the exit for Colonie, where we saw Cocca's Inn's and Suites as well as "It's time for a Hoffman's Car Wash" It really took us back to the time we visited Siena. We decided to try to find the 76 Diner, but unfortunately we couldn't but then we decided that it wasn't worth spending time sitting and eating, so we went to McDonald's instead.

Our whole stop took about 40 minutes, and even WITH that stop, our total trip time was LESS than what Google said it would be. The Trip time was supposed to be 7 hours, and we made it here around 10:15. So about 15 mins less than expected WITH a 40 minute breakfast stop.

It wasn't check-in time at the hotel yet, so we went and took a walk down to the Old Port. We went to the science center, which was interesting, but there wasn't much to do there. We saw and IMax movie, and that was fun, but the exhibit was boring.

On the way out, there were a bunch of people standing in a park with white shirts on that said "Divanova." Apparantly Dianova is an organization that collects goods for poor people. So, they gave us shirts and told us to stand in line, and then they were passing boxes from one end of the park to the other, to represent the human chain of helping people. It was really weird, but intersting.

After that, we walked through some of the older part of town and saw some 18th century market.

Then we came back to the hotel, but the room wasn't ready, so Dan went to buy Alc and I parked my butt in the lobby.

Before Dan got back, the room was ready, and I came upstairs. Then we took a nap for about an hour and a half, and then it was time for the evening.

So, the Metro system is down (great, I Know...) Very inconvenient for treveling around here. We had to take a bus over to the bar we wanted to go to. We walked down to Rue Ste-Catherine, and there was a bus just coming down the street, and we jumped on! Dan was trying to put money into a slot, and then into something that I don't even think was meant for money.... but the bus driver told us to sit! So basically, he didn't make us pay. How nice! :)

So, the bus made a wild route down that street, and diverted to a street a little south of it, for a portion. Then at one stop, these two kids got on, and Dan asked them directions. Funny enough, they said they were planning to go to the same club. So, they told us where to get off the bus, and we walked with them down the street for a while and talked about random stuff. Then they asked us if we wanted to come back to their apartment to pre-game a little before the club. THeir names were Fred and Charles, by the way. Fred is the one whose apartment it was, and Charles is his friend from somewhere north of here about 30 minutes away, and he was visiting.

Anyway, we went to some supermarket and bought soda and beer. We got to their place and I had a few rum and cokes, and Dan had some beers. We just hung out and talked about random stuff. Fred spoke english very well, but still had some words he didn't know, and Charles knew less english than Fred, and he didn't say much at first, but by the end of the night he was saying a lot. We, of course, knew no French, so every time they would speak in French, we had no idea what was going on.

I have decided also, that I want to learn to speak French.

So, we went to the club, it was very fun. We were outside on the roof for a while, it's like a big outdoor area of the club much like the place we like in Port Jeff, only this was part of a club, not really a bar.

I can't even describe all of the random people we met and craziness at the club. There were some girls whose names I can't remember.. oh oh.. one was "Gabrielle" and the other said to call her "Very Beautiful."

Everyone was really nice, and Fred knew EVERYONE. It was insane.

Anyway, to make a long story short, we stayed there till about 2:45am. Fred kept bying us drinks and shots, it was so crazy. So fun. We then went back to their apartment, where we watched TV and hung out until about 5:00. THEN We returned to the hotel and went to sleep!!! What a night!! It was so random and crazy, but so fun. Fred gave dan an Quebec flag that was given to him by some sort of Parliment member when he was younger, and he wanted to give it to us to remember "when Quebec becomes it's own country in 2010" There is a movement for "Quebec Soverignty", and they want to be their own country. Perhaps like Kings Park wants to be its own country.

So anyway, it's Sunday morning now... Well... 1:23pm, and We just got ready fr the day, so we're going out to walk around and be touristy!!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
