"random spontaneous getaway" or "table tennis champs"

Hey Journal!!!

Greetings from Warwick, RI! YES!! So if you've been following my attempt to find somewhere random to go for the weekend, you will notice that we actually DID something!! :)

Let's start in the morning... I got up, determined to find something to do this weekend. I got ready for work, and headed off.

The day was unbelievably grueling. It went by soooo slowly! There were several little projects to do throughout the day, but overall it was dull!

At 2:00 Dan's dad decided we should watch the Mets game! So we put it on the TV and had a mini party in the office, complete with buffalo wings! lol So random.

So... at 5:00 I departed work, and I told Diane as I was leaving, that tomorrow there was no way I was waking up on Long Island, and that no matter what, Dan and I were going SOMEWHERE!!!!

I got home and packed my stuff, and still... no plans. I had everything at the door when Dan got home! Haha! We went online again and looked through some possibilities, but still..hotels were really expensive. We found one hotel in Warwick, RI (close to Providence) and the rate was $89/night! Not as bad as the others in Providence, and other places like Boston, etc. which were like 175 to 300 a night! Way too expensive!

So, we zeroed in on this one, and when I put in the AAA rate, it came up for 80! So this was looking good. Then I searched for coupon codes online, and they had one for the US Table Tennis Association!!! I put it in, and it gave us a rate of $65/night!!! AMAZING!! So, we went with it!!

We departed at about 7:45, stopped at the bank, and off we went. We drove, and listened to DnR on the way!

We were getting hungry, and decided we wanted to go to Cracker Barrel, BUT the next one was over 60 miles away!! We decided to wait for it...and as we got closer, it was about 10:30, and we decided that we should check out what time they were open until.

So, Dan called, and they said 11:00. They said as long as you get there by 11, no problem!

So...we roll up to Cracker Barrel at 10:56! I know. I felt so bad going in!! We walked in, and there was NOONE in the place. It was completely empty! I felt even worse. Everyone was sooo nice though, and our waiter, Drew, took our order and such. We sat there and ate, all alone, and he kept telling us not to rush!

We actually departed there at 11:15, so we were only there for 20 minutes!!

I felt sooooooo full and bloated after dinner though! I felt like I was gonna throw up! Gross, I know, but it was stuffed, and it was crazy!!

So, we were only 10 mins from Warwick, and we got back on the road. We got to our hotel at about 11:45, and we went to the desk to check in.

When we gave the name to the lady at the counter, she says "Oh! What's going on with the US Table Tennis! ?" Dan says, "I dunno!" HAHAH Because she saw that we reserved under the Table Tennis Association coupon!! So, she got the idea that it was pretty much just a coupon code, and we had no idea what it was! So she was really nice and funny, and checked us in. She said they ran out of little paper sleeves for the room keys, and she apologized, so Dan was like... "Oh no! We come to hotels JUST for the paper sleeve!" LOL

So anyway, as we walk away to go to our room, she says, sarcastically, "Have fun with the Table Tennis!" And so Dan says, "Don't worry...we will!" and for some reason that confused her, and she though maybe we really WERE there for Table Tennis! LOL This whole thing was HYSTERICAL! I swear.

So then Dan turns back and tells her, "We're ranked number 2 in the country!" and then we got into the elevator!! How great! So random. I love it.

Well, all I can say now is that it's been a GREAT start to our random weekend, and we have NOTHING planned for the next two days, but we plan to make it fun!!! :)

The hotel is nice, and like I said already the lady at the desk was really nice too!

Well... now it's time to get to sleep! It's been a long day!!
