"conference: day 2" or "VEGAS!"

Hey Journal!

Well today was the last day of my conference! I can't believe that it went by so fast! I got up this morning at about 7, hung around for a while, got dressed and went down the breakfast at 8:00.

The breakfast this morning was much less extensive than yesterday, which was kinda a little sad. I was still hungry. All it was was some rolls and weird stuff.

The first session this morning was good. Pretty interesting. Afterwards I was so thirsty and hungry though, so I had some watermelon for snack and a few sodas. lol I took a water to the next session. In that one we had a little "group" pow-wow where we got together with some other people and talked about the way our respective clubs do different things. It was cool.

Then we had lunch. Again, not as good as the day before... yesterday was all hot stuff... today was all cold cuts and stuff. I had a roast beef sandwich with a plentiful amount of roast beef, so that was good and filling. At lunch, and breakfast, I talked to Bill who I had met yesterday!

I had about 30 mins to kill after that so I went up and played some video Roulette. $5. I was up to 15!!! I was happy, and then I lost it all! How depressing! lol

Anyway, Back to the conference, they had the closing session. It ended a little early, and I went up and talked to Don again and we conversed about some of the options I would like to see as far as member services being hosted in-house rather than on the IBS servers.

And that was it for the conference. It was fun, and I got a lot out of it. It's interesting though, I don't think I got what I expected to get out of it. I learned different things than I had anticipated. In one respect, I got a lot of confidence in that I think that after hearing how other clubs do things, and what they do and don't do, I'm more confident that we have a pretty good grasp on using the features that we need. The second was that it sparked me to think about things that I never had, and not necessarily because they presented a new idea, but more because just their talking about something, and then hearing people comment, starts wheels turning... At the end of the conference they said that was one of the things they wanted to happen... and I think it really did! lol

I came back, and then it was finally time to make the first visit to the strip!!

It was cool to finally see the "real" Vegas, the streets are not at all what I imagined them to be! The casinos are very cool, but the entrances to them, and how you get around really surprised me.

As you walk up and down the strip, these crazy guys try to hand out cards with naked girls on them! It's crazy, and they're strewn all over the ground!

For lunch, I had Wendy's and then headed back to the GVR.

I really wanted to go in the pool, and hurried to get in before it closed at 8.... but they came around and shooed everyone out at about 7:58!!

Now it's time to get ready for Dan's arrival! His flight should arrive here at 11:52pm! YAY! :)
