"hanging with the queen" or "oxford/witney take two"

11:27 GMT, 6:27 EST

Hey Journal!

Well, TODAY... I SAW THE QUEEN! For real! It was amazing! Okay... so, we got up this morning at 8:30, and we got showered and ready, and then headed off to Angel to take the tube to Green Park. ("This station is Green Park. Exit here for Buckingham Palace!")

We got there just before the ceremony started at 10:30. Today, the Queen had to go from Buckingham Palace to declare Parliament open! So, this whole long street was line with those guys with red coats and black fuzzy hats! It was great! We waited along the line, and watched the procession of horses, and carriages, and everything!

Then came the Queen! She was in a horse drawn stagecoach thing! It looked very old fashioned, but I'm sure it was state of the art and bullet proof! She came right past us, and we could actually SEE her inside! She definitely looked over in our direction! How exciting!

I like to think we made eye contact! She definitely loves me. haha!

The walkway all along where the Queen's procession went was lined with these trees that had this awful pollen! It was unbelievable. Little pieces kept flying down, and there were clouds of pollen. I have never had allergies to anything at home, but this tree INSANE! I was sneezing, coughing, and my eyes were itchy at teary! I now fully appreciate NOT being allergic to much! Seeing the Queen was worth toughing it out, but as soon as it was over, and we had left that area, it all went away! :)

We walked down along the procession to Trafalgar Square, and then down to the Westminster tube station. We took the tube to Paddington, and before getting on our train, we went to the Sainsbury's Local and got some sandwiches for lunch.

We took the train to Oxford... only one hour away! We walked around there, went to this store, Cult, that we had gone to the other day, and we each picked out a shirt as a souvenir of London. Something they don't sell at home! :)

We then took the bus to Witney! Witney is great. It's a small town, but there's a lot more going on there than you would realize at first glance. We went to dinner at Frankie and Benny's! We got there just before 5:00, and they still had their lunch specials! I got the spaghetti and meatballs, and Dan got a "three course" meal, and they were both really cheap because it was from the "lunch" specials.

I had a Strawberry Daquiri, and for dessert we shared the brownies and ice cream.

Afterwards we walked around Witney, then took the 8:07 S1 from Witney to the Oxford Train station. We took the 9:01 train to London, it got in at 9:58, and we took the tube to Angel!

Now we're back, and packing for Paris! I can't believe London is over! It went so fast. It was so great, I had such a great time! :) Luckily we still have more fun to look forward to in Paris, France!!

We have to get up early, and so I'd better get to sleep now!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
