"homeward bound"

Hey Journal!

It's early on Monday morning, and surprisingly, I'm awake... so let met backtrack and give you the rundown for Sunday!

We got up yesterday morning around 10:30am in Paris! We got our stuff together, and got all ready to check out of our hotel. We went down to the front desk, handed in our weird little key.. (it looked like a USB drive), and then left our luggage in their baggage closet, while we went to take one last walk around Paris.

It was Sunday, and most of the stores were closed, but we walked down to the Champs Elysees, and then around there a little. We stopped and got some breakfast at a little bread place, and then headed back to the hotel around 2:00 to get our stuff.

We walked a few blocks to the "Roissy Bus" stop, bought tickets, and off we went to the airport. It was about a 40 minute ride from Paris to CDG airport. We arrived, and checked our bags, and then went through security.

We had about 45 minutes to kill before we got on the plane, so Dan checked out the duty free stores, and I just hung out by the terminal.

Finally, it was time to board. The plane going home was much smaller than the one we had taken to London. This one his two rows of three seats. It didn't have that crazy middle row! Also, we didn't have individual TVs, but instead there were TVs on the ceilings every few rows of seats. Unfortunately, they didn't work! As soon as we took off, they informed us that they couldn't get the TVs going. Beastly!

Alas, the flight was long, it took off at 5:50, and was 8 hours long. We landed at about 8:00pm NY time (which was like 2am Paris time!) On the plane, I read a LOT of my book! I was about halfway through when I started, and now I have just one chapter to go! The first meal was pretty good... it was chicken with rice. The package said it was called "Hawaiian Chicken."

The second meal was a sandwich in a box, and was not that appetizing. Oh... and I would have loved to take a little nap on the plane, but I couldn't because it was BRIGHT the whole time. Because we were heading West, the sun kept chasing us. It was the same brightness from 6pm when we left until we landed!

So, when we landed, we went through customs, and then collected our luggage, and were ready to go around 8:45. Kristen and Don were on their way to get us. They arrived around 9:30, and picked us up!

Dan and I were pretty hungry, and so we went to the Hauppauge Palace Diner. I got pancakes! Mmmm! It was great to have a good meal at a relatively cheap price compared to France! Kristen got a milkshake, and Don got a rootbeer float!

We got home, and got ready for bed as fast as we could! We had to get settled a bit, but we were READY for sleep!

The good thing.... We went to bed at about 11:30pm, but it FELT like it was 5:30am to us! However, we slept a full night, and I woke up refreshed just a little while ago!

Today we're going to have our Memorial Day Picnic!! I'll check back in later!

Adios for now. :)
