"sedona" or "jerome"

Hey Journal!

This morning, we got up at about 8:00 and went outside to the little patio in the middle of the parking lot for the continental breakfast!

I was looking forward to something filling for breakfast, but unfortuantely the choices were pitiful! They had juice, toast, and some packaged danishes and donuts. I had a glass of orange juice, and a pack of powdered donuts, but really... would it be too much to ask for cereal? I don't think I've ever stayed at a hotel that offered breakfast, and they didn't have cereal.

After breakfast, I came back to the room to take a shower, and Dan went for a walk around the town. On his travels, he went to Safeway and purchased some Corn Flakes for me, too! :)

Our plan today was to start out by driving to Sedona, and checking out the sights there. It was about an hour ride, and the drive was pretty amazing. There were lots of altitude changes and winding roads!

Sedona was cool, we arrived and walked around for a while, and Dan did a beer tasting thing.

After that, we continued down the road and made our way to a town called Jerome. According to some websites online, and the woman at hotel office, Jerome was a town that had 15,000 residents at one time during a mining boom, but then became a ghost town, and went down to about 50 residents. Now, there are about 450, and so I was hoping to find a real "ghost town" but unfortuantely, it wasn't quite as exciting as I thought.

The drive there was really nice, and after we left, the drive was amazing! We went up to an elevation of over 7,000 feet on a winding road up the side of the mountain/canyon. It was wild.

We took a different way home, and passed through the town of Chino Valley. It had some stores and a school, but really all of the towns we've been have been tiny, and don't have much to them!

When we got back to Williams, we decided to go to Pizza Hut for lunch, but it turned out to be a bit of a disaster. We each ordered a personal pan pizza, but several minutes later the waiter came over to tell us that they only had one pan, so we couldn't each get one. Interesting. SO, we decided to change our order, and get a large pizza instead. When it finally came out, it was completely wrong, with the wrong toppings and stuff. At this point, we were a little annoyed, so we just said we were going to leave. The waiter was nice, and I felt bad for him, but at some point, enough is enough! lol On the positive side, we got the bread sticks for free! :)

We left and came back to the hotel, and then decided to drive to Flagstaff to get some stuff for our hike tomorrow at the Grand Canyon. We went to Target and bought some water, some snacks, and a backpack. :P

Then Dan got something to eat at Arby's, and we headed back to our hotel. We hung out here for the rest of the night and took it easy. We walked around the town, and then watched Desperate Housewives. It was the season premiere! :P

Now we're just getting ready for bed and are going to make it an early day tomorrow! We're getting up at 6am to take a hike down one of the trails at the Grand Canyon. Should be interesting!!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
