"kristen's belated birthday party"

Hey Journal!

This morning, we got up around 11:00 and watched last night's Shark Tank. The first few inventions were really stupid, but I liked the last one. Our only complaint with the last guy was that he should have done a little better job at negotiating once he decided who to go with!

After that, we went out to visit my Grandpa and see how he was doing after his stay in the hospital. He was doing well, and back to normal. My Aunt Regina came over, and my Aunt Maureen was on her way but had gotten stuck in crazy traffic on the expressway. The whole road was shut down because of some kind of accident. They said a helicopter had to land on the road!

We were only there for a short while because we had plans to meet linda for lunch at Houlihan's in Farmingdale at 3:00. We actually were a little early, so we decided to do something that I can't even believe I am admitting to.

We decided to go into WalMart. First off... before you run away screaming... let me assure you that I did not go there with the intention of purchasing anything. Dan and I specifically said we would only go in under the guise of performing an undercover sleuthing mission!

Our plan was to check out items that we usually buy at Target and see if the prices were comparable. So, let me get right to the results. We found that most of the things we buy were either the same or less at Target, and we also found that items which were slightly less at WalMart were so close that with our 5% Red Card discount, we would be getting a better price at Target! That made us feel good!

Second, and I know there's a cliche about this, but the place was GROSS. First, the floor is cement, and the ceiling is like a warehouse. It's not inviting at all. Then, here's the real cliche part, the PEOPLE there are unreal! I have no idea where they come from, but they are ALL drawn out of the woodwork and convene there at WalMart. There were the ugliest, strongest, fastest, most gross and trashy looking people I have ever seen concentrated into one place. Everywhere you turn. And it's so crowded, too! It's just not a pleasant shopping experience whatsoever!

In closing, my reconnaissance mission has yielded this result: Even if the prices were better at WalMart, I would still avoid it like the plague, but luckily they're not... so I have no reason to second guess my decision. Thank You.

Anyway, we headed over to Houlihan's at like 3, and Linda was not there yet. We sat in the lobby for a while, and then randomly after we were sitting there for like 15 minutes, they girl decided to sit us. Linda arrived around 3:30ish.

Dan and I had already begun to color the kids' placemats! lol I told Connor we started coloring without him, and he made a sound of great disappointment.

We had a fun lunch, and after we were done, we parted ways because they were going to see Disney Princesses on Ice!

We left at about 5:00, and Dan and I made a quick stop back to say Hi to my cousins who had now arrived to see my Grandpa. Then we went up to the Beverage Barn in Ronkonkoma to buy some Miles Hards! Lime, of course!

We came home, and then shortly after, headed over to Kristen and Don's. They were having a belated birthday celebration for Kristen! Her birthday was November 1st, during the storm, so they storm kinda stole her thunder!! That whole no electricity thing and all...

So, when we arrived, her family eaten pizza already, and we hung out and talked for a while. A little later, we had some Baskin Robbins ice cream cake! It was mint chocolate chip with chocolate cake on the bottom, and was very enjoyable!! There was a scare, however, because for a moment it looked like they had no candles.... but fear not, they turned up!

After we ate cake, Kristen's parents and brother departed, and her grandparents who are currently staying with her went to bed! (They have no power, and a tree fell on their house in the hurricane!)

So, we went down to the basement so as not to disturb them! We hung out and conversed there for a while, and then shortly before 12, we headed home.

Now we're just home and getting ready for bed!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
