"carnival breeze day 2: day at sea"

Hey Journal!

Well, today was our first full day on the Carnival Breeze and I couldn't be happier that it was a sea day! I hate when you are exhausted from traveling, get on the ship, and then have to get up so freaking early the next day!

Instead, we got to sleep nice and late. Dan and I slept until about 10:00 and then we had breakfast delivered to our room. Unfortunately, they kinda messed up our breakfast order. We ordered four milks, but got six instead. We got two types of cereal but only one bowl, and Dan ordered and received coffee, but no cup to put it in! Kinda nuts!

So, after we ate our breakfast, we went out to see what everyone else was up to! My mom had gotten up extra early today, at 6:45 to go walk on the track and then had breakfast in the Marketplace. Dan's parents had gotten up later than that, but were also out and about before we got up, and Brian and Jessica got up about the same time we did. They got breakfast at their room, too.

First, we wanted to go to the "Super Trivia." We got there, and unfortunately it wasn't a small group trivia, it was one side of the room vs. the other, so we decided not to stick around.

We went out to take a walk around the ship and then we located Dan's parents and my mom on the deck. We staked out a spot with some deck chairs but didn't stay long. We wanted to go to the Punchliners Comedy Brunch at 11, so we headed there to check it out. We got some more food since our first breakfast wasn't super, and this one was good... the only problem was that there was no comedy. I don't really like comedy shows anyway, but it was just strange... the guy just advertised the comedy show later in the evening! Weird.

When we were done with brunch, I wanted to go in the hot tub and go to the gym, and Dan wanted to go lay in the sun, so I came back to the room, put on my sunscreen and bathing suit, and then went to the gym. I did 1.5 miles on the treadmill and then .75 on the elliptical. I watched TV while I was doing it and also played a game of solitaire that was built into the console of the machine. It was a little hard at first to play while walking, but I got the hang of it quickly. It was also a pain because the screen wasn't very responsive so I kept having to press the same thing over and over again!

After my gym time, I came back to the room to put my earphones away, and then went to look for Dan to see if he wanted to go in the pool. When I came out onto the Lido deck, I saw Brian getting in, so I went over and went in the pool with him. Originally I was going to go in the hot tub, but once I felt the water there, I decided the pool was a good idea! It was so warm! I loved it. And it's the salt water. Niiiiice.

It wasn't crowded at all, but there was Bingo going on on the deck and so we kinda "watched" everyone play Bingo from the pool.

A little later, we saw Dan a few decks up and got his attention. He came down, came in the pool, and then suggested that we got on the slide! There wasn't a long line, so we went up and did it! It was cool. It's a little weird because the orange slide just empties into a big basin and then you just stop, stand up, and walked down a flight of stairs! lol It's strange!

After that, we found Dan's parents and went back by them before taking a walk to the other end of the ship and going to see about the "70s Name that Tune" at 3:15. I tried to locate my mom, but she was nowhere to be found! I looked all over, but I couldn't find her.. I was sure she would have liked that game!

When we couldn't find her, we decided to go to the "Hasbro The Game Show." It's a random name, but it was fun. They had big versions of games... and people competed in them. One was Connect 4, the other was Simon, and in between, they asked Trivial Pursuit questions and Scattergories.

After the game show, we stopped by the Casino and put $10 on Jackpot Party. We played for a while and were desperate to get a party! I finally got on and the third pick, I got the pooper! Ridiculous! We were down to just about $4 left, and I then we hit another one! I actually pressed the pooper on the FIRST try, which I guess was a good thing because it let the party continue, and I had eliminated a pooper!

We opened up a bonus screen of it, and got multiple presents per touch. We wound up being up $75! Amazing!!!!!!!!!!

Next, we went up to the Serenity area and went in the hot tub there. It was nice, but a little too breezy! So, we got a towel from them and headed down to the Deck 5 hot tubs! We went in there and there were only two girls at that hot tub. It was pretty quiet. We watched the sun set and it was so crazy how fast it goes down at the end. You see a little bit of it poking up over the water and then literally watch it disappear! It's wild!

We stayed in the hot tub a little while longer but then headed out and back to our room around 5:30. I took a shower and Dan did some more research on possible excursions to do for the trip. When I was done with my shower, Dan took his, and then we got dressed for our first "Elegant Night."

We went up to the Marketplace to get some lemonade, and then returned to our room to mix up some drinks! I made my famous Iced Tea Vodka + Lemonade. Mmmm. It was a blue color after the light green vodka and the yellow lemonade mixed!

Dan opened a bottle of wine and then Dan's mom and my mom came over. We poured the wine and then headed to the lobby to sit and wait for dinner. We listened to the music and then Dan's Dad met us there shortly after.

At 8:15, we headed to dinner. My mom and I came back to put Dan's glass and my glass into our room. We're saving the plastic cups we got with our drinks yesterday so we can have good cups when we mix our own!

Dinner tonight was good, I got the chicken. The "every night" chicken. I also got the minestrone soup, however I am not a huge fan of minestrone, so I just ate some of the broth. There's always one night on the cruise where I don't like the appetizers and have to settle for minestrone! I vividly remember that!

After dinner, we headed to the "Divas" show but had some time to kill before it started and we went to walk around a bit. I swear, walking around the ship is my favorite thing to do on a cruise. Just walking around, taking in the sights and sounds, and scoping out the people.

There's one woman on here who looks exactly like the woman who had her face ripped off by the gorilla in CT. She looks like she did when she appeared with the bee-keeper's mask on. I know it's terrible to say, but she really does look like her, I'm not kidding.

We did make up some more names for people... we have 6P and Juice Box (two who are always together) and we have Stripes and Solid (two MORE who are always together.) We had several sightings of Sticks and Stones today (another twosome!) It's like everyone comes in pairs on this ship!

Additionally, there is a group of deaf people on the boat, so every now and then you see sign language. Their group, collectively, has been nicknamed "Sail and Sign" after the "Sail and Sign Card." Originally I had called them Sign of the Times.... but I think this is better.

Anyway, after we walked around we watched the Divas show. It was good, everyone liked it. Then we hung out in the lobby, looked at some photos, and then went to the Casino. We showed Jessica how to play Jackpot Party and she put $20 on her card but lost it all after some ups and down!

At that point we headed back to the room and I got changed before doing one more pass of the deck to check out the happenings. We saw 6P and Juice Box again watching the big screen, and then we came back to the room to go to bed.

Tomorrow's plan is to meet at the restaurant at 9:00 for breakfast and then get off the boat after that! We'll be in Grand Turk!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
