"carnival breeze day 3: grand turk"

Hey Journal!

Today, our alarm was set for 8:30 so that we could go to breakfast at 9. Dan's Dad had looked up in the schedule and THOUGHT breakfast was at 9, but we found out later that it CLOSED at 9! Oops!

My mom called us around 8:00 and woke us up which made us very grumpy! We tried to fall back to sleep, but didn't do such a great job. When we got up, we got dressed and all decided to go to the Marketplace for breakfast. We met in our room at 8:55 and then headed there.

Jessica wasn't awake yet so she was still in the room but everyone else had breakfast and then we got off the ship. We went down to Deck 0 and out onto the dock!

So... Grand Turk is a weird port. It's nice, and it's a cool little stop, but it's not an authentic Caribbean Island port. From what Dan had read ahead of time and from what we saw tonight, Carnival basically built this port. Apparently, Grand Turk was not a port of call until recently, and Carnival really built it up. They built the dock and all of the shops along it. When you get off, you walk around the little village and then you are able to go into the free pool (which has Carnival deck chairs around it) or go to the beach and swim in the water.

It's cool, and actually very nice that you can do all of that for free, but it isn't authentic... it's very staged. I had never done anything like that before.

We took a walk around just to peruse and then went down to the beach. There was a man with a metal detector and Dan threw two pennies into the sand about 5 feet in front of him while he wasn't looking. When he got there, he found both of them! It was hysterical! What a nut!

We all got back on the ship and then we went back to our staterooms and planned to meet back at the main pool on the Lido deck in 10 minutes.

It was nice weather and we went in the pool and Dan's dad started talking to a guy who used to be a butcher in the Bronx! He was talking all about his move to Florida and why it's the best thing in the world! He was very nice, though.

My Moonshine buddies were also at the pool, so I showed everyone who they were.

We had a little food and then I was told that my ears were starting to get red (even though I had suncreeded everywhere...) so I decided to go to the gym. Before that, I stopped and went in the weird rocking table seat thing on Deck 5. I went on my phone and sent a few iMessages.

I got the Verizon 100 MB for $25 package, and according to the website I should be good, but god forbid I'm not! If not, it's $20 per MB! Insanity. That would be $2,000 if I used the whole thing! Anyway, I am going to trust that this will be all done correctly!

After that, I went to the gym and walked on the treadmill. I watched CNN which had some announcement from the White House and also some weird World news. I played solitare, and Dan came to join me at the gym shortly after.

I walked 2 miles on the treadmill and then we both switched to the ellipticals. I walked another 1, for a total of 3 miles today! Woo Hoo!

Just as we were finishing up there, the boat started to leave the port and we went up to watch the sail away. We then went into the hot tub on Deck 5 for a bit.

When we were done, we came back to the room and took showers to get ready for the VIFP Party! It was very fun! I had a good time and they served lots of good drinks. I had a "Mardi Gras" drink which was very good, and I think I had a total of three of them, possibly 4.

They did the little video where they show all of the Carnival ships and we cheered for the ones we'd been on! It was really fun! I went crazy for the Miracle.

When it was over, Dan got a photo with the Cruise Director and then we headed to the lobby. In the lobby, there was a woman getting crazy portraits taken. She was posing LAYING on the floor in the lobby. It was so weird. It was one of the strangest poses I have ever seen! Anyway, when they were finished and headed upstairs, Dan went and laid in the same spot and made the same poses! I took pictures of it! Everyone in the lobby was hysterically laughing... they LOVED it! Even the bartenders said stuff to us about it afterwards... they REALLY thought it was great. We even got some high fives.

After that we were at the height of our drunkness. We were waving to people going up in the elevators and we got a lot of waves back. We sat in the lobby for a while and saw Dan's Dad a few floors up and then saw my mom. She came down and sat with us and then we walked around the ship a little.

Dan and my mom played Ping Pong and I got popcorn to eat out on the deck for the movie night! It was lots of fun!

Then my mom tried her luck at Jackpot Party but lost $10. Sad!

As we made our way through the Promenade Deck, Dan took as many picutres as possible at the photo booths! It was so random! These pictures are going to be INSANE when they display them tomorrow, and I think we are going to have to buy some.

We decided to part ways and then meet back up at 8:15 for dinner.

Dan and I did a couple more laps around the deck and we stopped to listen to some karaoke by the Internet Cafe, or "Fun Zone." While we were there, someone who we later learned was named Justin came up to us and started talking to us out of the blue. He was really nice. He's from Michigan. We hung out there and talked to him for about 30 minutes and then when it was time for dinner, we left.

When we got to dinner, everyone else had just arrived. We changed our seats around tonight so that was fun. We ordered our food, and then Dan wasn't feeling so well. He left, and said he was going to the bathroom. Unfortunately, he never returned. We wondered where he went, so after the appetizers came out, I went to find him. I looked in all the close bathrooms, but found him back in our room. He was not feeling well from drinking so much, so he rested up here.

I went back and had dinner... I got the flat iron steak again tonight. It was good. I thought we had a very nice dinner tonight and they did a fun show with dancing and singing!

Very exciting... tomorrow they are going to do Gangnam Style! WOOOO!!

After dinner I brought Dan his food just in case he was feeling better and then went to meet up with everyone else on Deck 4 to look at our pictures. There were some nice ones.

Then I came back to the room and helped Dan. I got him some water and an Advil. He had it and started to feel a bit better. We decided to take a walk out on the deck, get some fresh air, and some more water.

While we were walking around, we found our new friend Justin again. He was waiting in the Casino for a girl named Stacy who we had met earlier when we were at the "Fun Zone." In fact, we all took a picture together which I am sure is going to be nuts!

Anyway, he had met up with her in the shops and she was walking with him. When they went through the Casino, she told him to wait for her for a second, but left him for over 20 minutes!!! He was just standing there waiting! We waited with him for about 10 more minutes but then told him that it was ridiculous. She was at a poker table with two other guys who were buying her drinks! We told him to drop her and get outta there, so he did.

We walked around the ship, just hung out, and then got ice cream. The ice cream started to fall on his hand and he turned quickly and threw the whole thing at the ice cream machine where it landed right in the drip pan. It was perfect calculation, actually.

Anyway, we hung out a little longer with him and then headed back to go to bed.

We called around and decided to meet for breakfast at 9am tomorrow at the dining room, and then wing it from there!

Tomorrow is La Romana, Dominican Republic!! Wooo!

SO exhausted! It's almost 1am!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
