"cruise, here we come" or "goose hotspot"

Hey Journal!

Well, what a WEIRD day I had at work today. When I woke up this morning, I would never have expected to see happen what we saw today!

The day started out normally and I was getting things done to get ready for our vacation. Then, the craziness started. Yesterday, we had seen someone out on the golf course with a tripod and some weird equipment. We didn't know what it was or who they were. The afternoon, we got word that they were back. Then a little while later, they were back again!

Dan's dad and I went out to see what they were doing, and who they were. When we got out, it was two ladies and they were walking back to their car. We were walking towards them, but they were just walking faster and faster. As Dan's dad called to them, they sped up. He started running, and finally we got to them before they got to their car.

One woman talked briefly while the other one rushed over to the car and put the camera away quickly. It was totally sketchy, or suss, as they say. So from talking to the woman, we got a little information.

They were NOT the same people... it was different people each time. There is some sort of goose watching message board website where goose lovers post their latest finds. Who knew. Anyway, someone had posted that our golf course was home to a rare and exotic type of goose. (Really?) Anyway, Dan's dad told them that they were on private property, and that the golf course was closed. She countered with "we weren't on the golf course" and "the restaurant says it's open to the public."

Ok stupid. First off... The restaurant is open to the public, that doesn't mean you can walk out onto the golf course, and second, Yes, that is the golf course you were on, and third, open to the public or not, we're not a town park, we're privately owned, and you and your tripods are not welcome.

ANYWAY, they left. Then started the parade. Probably about 20 more people throught the day pulling in all looking to get a glimpse of the rare goose! No freaking way! I made giant signs that we put on signposts around the common entrances to the golf course that said "COURSE CLOSED - NO TRESPASSING." I put them out, and hopefully that will stop some of the weirdos.

Really, who likes geese? And who likes them enough to post messages about them online and then come running. And ALL of them had big tripods with giant camera... the ones reporters use at baseball games, or big telescope-like devices. I have never seen anything like it. And on top of that, tomorrow is going to be a beautiful day and we'll probably be overrun with goose watchers. Never a dull moment.

Just think what Steve will say when he finds out we're Long Island's new goose hot spot!

We found the website, and Kyle called the guy who posted it (he posted his name, and we looked it up.) Kyle asked the man to post a note saying that we were not open, and that people could not come by to see these now-famous animals.

In addition, they have a map on the website with a giant arrow above our course with a big flame denoting what a hot spot we really are. Sheesh.

Anyway, the rest of the day was pretty typical. I got everything finished, all wrapped up, and my desk is nice and neat for the week. Perfecto.

I left at 4:45 because I had nothing else to do and I headed home. On the way home I stopped to mail something at the Post Office and then went to the Library to return a book that Dan had neglected to return for weeks and weeks.

When I got home, I finished some packing, watched the news, and then when Dan arrived we watched World News.

It totally doesn't feel like a Friday, but it is, and the cruise is tomorrow. I am so full of excitement, but at the same time I feel like it can't be real, or if it is, that it will be over too soon! Ahhhhhh! So many emotions!

Anyway, we got finished, watched Shark Tank, I had a TV dinner, and now it's off to bed! Gotta get up at 4:30am!! INSANITY!!!

Until tomorrow.... Until the cruise....

Goodnight. :)
