"shield agent grant ward on our flight"

Hey Journal!

This morning we got up at 8:30 in our hotel in Agoura Hills, California. We spent some time packing up our stuff and then we went down to the lobby to get some breakfast. The hotel was very much like the one that we had stayed at with Linda in Pennsylvania, though it was't quite as nice as that one.

The breakfast food was really good... I had some eggs, bacon, a waffle, and cereal!! I always love the "make your own waffle" station!

There were a few characters in the breakfast. The first takes the cake by far. There was a table of Indian people sitting across the way and their daughter was STANDING ON THE TABLE! She was pounding around and stepping on waffles that were squishing in her toes and she was waiving silverware around! It was unreal... and the parents just sat there eating as if this was a perfectly acceptable thing to do! We couldn't believe our eyes... so we took a picture! It's a good one.

Then there was a weird family with a freaking dog in the restaurant!? What the heck! There was a big sign that said pets are not allowed, and she parades through with it on a leash and then lets it sit on her lap and lick food off the plate while she's eating. There is really something wrong with people. First off, if you go to a hotel that has a "no pets" policy and you bring a dog... wouldn't you be trying to keep it on the down low!? Keep the animal in your room until you're ready to leave. Let someone stay there with the dog and eat breakfast later.

Finally, there was Los Angeles County Sheriff who just parked his police car right out front and came in to get some eggs. He filled up his plate and parked himself on the sofa near the fireplace. He ate, and then went back on patrol! The life!

So, King Kong, the chihuahua, and the sheriff really made our morning memorable.

We headed back to the room and then finished packing up. We went to take a photo by the pool's really descriptive diarrhea sign, and then we hit the road.

We left around 10 and had to be at the rental car return place between 11 and 12. The car was due back at 11, but they had a grace period of one hour. We had a really nice drive through Malibu along the ocean one last time with the convertible to say goodbye to Cali!

We dropped off the car and got all of our belongings out and then took the shuttle to the airport. We were the only ones on the shuttle so it went right to our terminal! Boom!

We got inside, checked our bag, and then went through security. The security area was so weird this time... it wrapped around this balcony and was just kinda a mess.

Anyway, when we got through, we had some time to kill. We walked around for a bit and then just sat and people watched. As they were calling our plane to board, we got up, and there was a guy walking towards us who looked SO familiar! Dan couldn't place where we would have known him from, and then it hit me!

It was Brett Dalton.... Agent Grant Ward from Marvel's Agents of SHIELD!! One of our favorite shows! It was pretty cool. I was 99% sure it was him, but after getting a little bit of a closer look, we were certain.

We were hoping he would be sitting near us on the plane, but they were a few rows back.

The flight was nice, and I really am impressed with Virgin America. I love their planes, their service, and the whole experience is pretty nice compared to a lot of other airlines! So glad we flew them for the first time. I will really make an effort to fly them again in the future.

Anyway, after a trip to the bathroom (past our resident SHIELD agent,) Dan decided to message him on the seat-to-seat chat! He came up with something witty... somewhat of an inside joke about the show. The plane they fly around in on the show is called "the bus," so Dan said "This plan doesn't compare to the bus! :P" and we got a response... "The bus has better drinks!" and then he left the chat room!

It was funny... I'm impressed he responded! Pretty cool.

When we got off the plane we collected our luggage and then headed outside for Dan's mom. She was waiting in Pickup Area C. It was about 10:15 by the time we got out.

We headed home and on the way we stopped at the diner. I got the open face turkey, and so did Dan's mom. Dan gave the waitress four things to choose from and asked her to surprise him! We've had this waitress before... she was the one who talked to me, Dan, and Re about TV shows.... but tonight she was in a really grumpy mood a first. Later on, however, she completely changed and got super nice and friendly. I dunno what happened!

We got home a little while ago and we're not even really tired because it feels like it's 3 hours earlier to us! We're going to watch an episode of Scandal and then get to bed!!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
