"carnival magic: day 7 - day at sea"

Hey Journal!

I know, it's hard to believe that tonight is our last night on the Carnival Magic and that tomorrow night we'll be back at home in New York where it's freezing cold!

Today was our last sea day and I am happy to say that we made the most of it! We got up at about 9:00 this morning and made our way down to the towel folding demonstration in the Spotlight Lounge at the back of the ship.

In today's Fun Times it said the towel folding was supposed to take place in the main theater, the Showtime Theater, but we were watching the Morning Show and they said it was a misprint!

So, we arrived at the correct location and the morning show was still going on. We watched the rest of that and then got right to work with our towels!

We learned how to make an elephant and a dog.

In other news, not only are we getting off the boat tomorrow but so is our cruise director. This is his last cruise before taking a vacation. It's weird because after next week, this ship is going to dry dock to be upgraded a little. I feel like it's weird to bring on a new cruise director for just one week... But hey, what do I know about the cruise industry!?

After the towel folding thing we went to have breakfast in the Lido Marketplace. I had cereal and French toast! The French toast was really good which surprised me because cruise pancakes are terrible. I wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly surprised.

After we ate we walked around the ship some more, tried a little Jackpot Party, then wound up sitting in the lobby for a little while. There was a little bit of a line at Guest Services because, for some reason, everyone wants to settle their accounts on the last day of the cruise. I don't really get it, though.... Why don't they just attach a credit card to their account and have it charge the balance?! What's going on here!?

Anyway, Dan waited on the line because we wanted to get some free playing cards. We got two decks and then we went and sat near the piano bar and played a little higher or lower. That was our favorite game to play on the Breeze and, there, it even made us some friends.

After playing some rounds of higher or lower, rummy, and solitaire, we went up to the Lido deck. Dan found a deck chair and parked himself in the sun while I found a little chair on deck 11 and sat in the shade.

I could see Dan down below. I hung out there for a while people watching and looking up information about cruise directors on my phone.

I got up after a while and went back to the room to get my camera. I took it out and walked around the ship trying to get some nice shots. We didn't really take that many pictures of this trip and I wanted to make sure I got at least SOME!

We came back to the room for a little bit and started to pack up. It's always sad on the last day of the cruise, pulling the suitcase out from under the bed and trying to figure out what goes where!

Next, we went in the hot tub one last time. We tried to go to the one on the right side of the ship but it was INSANELY HOT! Like, boiling hot, and the bubbles weren't going. I really think there was something wrong with it. There were four people there and all of them were sitting on the edge with their feet in the water because, I would assume, it was too hot to actually get in! I couldn't get in and did the same! After about 5 minutes, I suggested we go over to the other side of the ship. We found a completely empty hot tub that was a normal temperature, so that was nice!

We went to the casino to play one more round of Jackpot Party! Sadly, there were no parties to report! We did get this random bonus prize selection TWO TIMES and I've never seen it before... One time we won 60 cents or something ridiculous like that. The second time we COULD have won a surprise party but didn't pick that box!

After that we did a little more packing and then went up to the Lido deck to catch the sunset! We've missed it every other day of the cruise so we decided to make a point to be up there tonight. I tried to get some good pictures and a video but it didn't really work out because there were clouds in the way.

Next, at about 6:30, Dan went to the gym and I took a shower to get ready for dinner.

When Dan got back at about 7:30, he showered up and we were ready to leave the room for dinner at about 7:45.

We were alone again for dinner -- our dinner companions had officially ditched us after the second and third night. I really wonder where they went. We never saw them again on the ship after that night. The last night we ate with them we saw them dancing at the deck party and then poof!

Our head waiter was a very nice guy and we even got a selfie with him. We asked him what he does while the ship is in dry dock and he said he still has to work. He said it's docked in the Bahamas and it's not that good because they have no wifi there! Also, Dan swears that he said he has to work on the engine but I don't know if that makes much sense.

Our second waiter was a nice guy but he was a little doofy! He tried.

Tonight they sang their farewell song for us and, would you believe it, they said a special Thank You to Mama Dorothy! She's really something! I'm so glad we ran into her up in the marketplace!

After dinner we had our free drink coupons to use. So, instead of having a past-guest party, they now give free drink coupons to be used on the last night of the cruise after 5pm. I think that's a little lame for a few reasons....

First, the past guest party was fun because you got together with all the other cruisers and I liked the ship video thing... That was always fun. Secondly, they have unlimited free drinks -- just the kinda they were walking around with, though. They were small but we got some good nights out of those parties!

I do like the idea of being able to order your own drink but one is a little cheap and what's worse is making it on the LAST NIGHT! I mean, could they be any more clear in basically saying, "we hope you don't actually use this so we're going to make it redeemable at the time when most people aren't interested in getting a drink."

Would it really hurt to give your past guests ONE free drink on the whole cruise to be used whenever they want?

Oh well.

So, we got our drinks at the bar in the lobby and then walked around the ship.

We hung out in the Ocean Lounge for a while and listened to the band play. The band was great this whole trip. Meanwhile, there was this lunatic man in there who kept asking them to play some stupid song and they kept smiling at him and being so nice to him but they were obviously wishing he would GO AWAY! In fact, he was so annoying while they were playing their music that he drove us away!

We made some more rounds and then came back to the room to pack up.

Now, we're almost ready for bed. Dan has to go to the lobby again to get a customs card and I have to do my little walk through tour. People always view my ship tours on YouTube and I think, from searching for cruise ship tours myself, is that people like a walk through.

I see so many tours online that show people's family pictures or rooms from around the cruise but that doesn't give you any perspective of what it's like on the ship or how it's layer out. Walking around is much more immersive.

I mean, let's be real... I only have maybe 20,000 views. I'm not the next YouTube sensation but surprisingly it makes me some money each year!

Anyway, we're off to do that and then we have to be up at a ridiculously early hour tomorrow! Ugh! 8:15 we have to be off the ship!

So, for the last time from the Carnival Magic.... Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
