"tent sleepover"

Hey Journal!

This morning I got up and I was really tired from getting to bed late. I stayed up later than usual because I wasn't sure if I was going to wait up until Dan got home. I decided that was a bad idea but then I got a bad night's sleep. I woke up several times before Dan arrived and then once he came home I had a hard time falling back to sleep.

I pulled myself out of bed and got ready for work and departed around 8:50.

It was a really quiet day at work again today and I was very happy about that. I was expecting to be alone because Steve said he wasn't coming in... but then he did. He didn't stay for long, though. I spent the day doing what I had planned -- cleaning up my desk.

Even though it's still pretty cluttered I got through all the important stuff that has been lingering around! No members called or came down to the office at all today. I was thankful for that.

I decided it should be dress down Friday for me today because I had to bring a change of clothes for the afternoon so I wore my more casual sneakers instead of my normal work-wear.

For lunch I had the Tuscan Panini and for some reason there were onion rings in the fry bowl so I took two of them. They were really good but afterwards my stomach wasn't so sure I should have eaten them!

I left work at about 4:50 and headed over to Linda's house to pick up Connor and Cameron! I arrived around 5:20 and they were ready to go! Linda's mom had packed up all of their belongings and we were in the car and on our way by about 5:30! Dan had just gotten home from the Mets game and he tried to take a quick nap before we arrived. I think he probably only got to sleep for about 45 minutes.

We hit a little bit of traffic on the Southern State but it cleared up and we made fairly good time the rest of the way. When we got home, Dan greeted us at the front door and we brought in all of their luggage. They had several bags -- some with clothes and others with stuffed animals!

We set up the tent in the family room and watched a little TV before we went out to dinner. We were pretty hungry by about 7:00 and we decided to go to Applebee's. On the way, we went to Target to get some stuff. We got cookie dough to make chocolate chip cookies and we walked around the store and looked at everything. It's been a while since Dan and I have been to the Commack Target!

Good find... there were some cans of Chunky Soup in some good flavors on clearance! Only .98 each! I stocked up!

After we got what we needed, we headed across the street to Applebee's! It was some sort of Commack school craziness night! The place was PACKED with students and I have no idea what the reason was. The wait was only 20 minutes, though...which wasn't bad at all considering how busy it looked!

While we waited we sat in the lobby and played with the Snapchat filters on my phone!

Dinner was good and we had a fun time. We colored on the menus and played some games and it was a fun time! Connor got a grilled cheese sandwich and Cameron got Mac and Cheese!

We were there for a while... we took our time eating and then hung out for a bit afterwards. When we left, we decided to rent a movie to watch. We went to the Redbox by Home Depot and got The Good Dinosaur. I had a coupon code for 1.25 off, so our total after tax was $.27. I actually think that's the most I've ever spent on a Redbox movie. I feel a little defeated.

So, we got back home and we put the cookies in the oven and started watching the movie. It skipped a little at first but I took it out, washed it off, and then it was much better.

We paused for a break in the middle to eat our cookies. I let them cool off a little and then we sat at the table and ate them! They came out good.

The movie was okay, but it wasn't the best Disney movie I've seen. There were good parts, but it was a little weird -- and not weird in a good way like Emperor's New Groove. It was weird in a "why am I watching this?" kinda way. Connor and Cameron seemed to like it but it wasn't a Toy Story or any of those other good Pixar movies!

The movie was over around 12:30 and then we got all the toothbrushes out and stuff. We did the whole bedtime routine and now Connor and Cameron are asleep in the tent! We told them they had the choice of sleeping upstairs in the guest bed or sleeping downstairs in the tent and they didn't even have to think for a second about that one!

We put on a nightlight and we set them up. They have a bunch of blankets and a bunch of stuffed animals. It's actually really cozy looking!

Anyway, I'm pretty tired and we'll have a full day ahead of us! Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
