"casino with alec"

Hey Journal!

Wow! It's pretty late for me to be getting to sleep but I got home late and wanted to relax a little before bed. After work today I had plans to go hang out with Alec. I came home, got changed, and then headed over there.

I left here around 6 and arrived at Alec's at about 7:15. We wanted to get something to eat but had no idea what we were in the mood for. Alec suggested pizza, so we went to a pizza place that was nearby. After that, Alec suggested going to a casino in Queens. I was up for doing something random so that worked out perfectly. We had a few things to do beforehand -- first we had to get money. I looked up a nearby BOA and when we arrived I went in to use the ATM. It was out of cash. Great. We found another one and luckily it had money inside! Then we had to go to Alec's bank for him to get money and made a pit stop at Dunkin Donuts.

While we were in DD, for some reason, I was telling Alec how I dislike dogs. Of course, the woman in front of us had a dog in her car and so afterwards, as we were leaving, I told Alec I shouldn't have said that I hate dogs right in front of the woman with a dog. So the woman CURRENTLY in front of us says something like "well then you wouldn't have liked to see me just kiss that dog." GEEZ! I was surrounded by dog lovers!

I had never been to this casino before. It's the Resort World Casino at the Aqueduct Raceway. It wasn't far from Alec's house... maybe about a 15 minute drive. We got there, found a parking spot, and then headed inside. We took the escalators up to the third floor and perused the casino games. They have all electronic games -- no live dealers. It's very interesting. It's a pretty nice casino and it's really close by (especially from Alec's house!)

We played a few slots and then Alec wanted to play blackjack. Sadly, we could only find $10 minimum tables but he played anyway. He lost a little there and then we walked around some more. In this one sketchy corner we came across some $5 limits and we played there for a while. I was down $40 at one point and then managed to make it all back. I was feeling good about that and walked away back to being even.

I played a few more slots and then I encountered the game I love -- Sic Bo! It was a sketchy little table but we played for a little while. I made some money and was feeling good about it so I took my ticket. Alec played and lost a lot quickly. I decided to get back in and I lost everything I had!

We did some more slots after that and I was disappointed because I never got ANY bonus round! They didn't have the Willy Wonka slot machine so I had to seek alternatives. I played a Titanic one and that was probably the most entertaining on.

While I was playing it I started thinking... at what point is it okay to make a slot machine out of a mass casualty tragedy like that? I mean, we think of the Titanic as a story -- almost as if it was just a movie and not a real event where people died! I mean, it's not quite the same but would it ever be tasteful to make a slot machine of the World Trade Center? Like... people REALLY died.... Just an odd thing.

So, we both were losers tonight. I lost $80 and it kills me. Alec lost $160, which makes me feel slightly better about my $80 loss.

We headed back after that and I dropped Alec off at home and now here I am. When I got home I showered up and watched some TV.

But now back to the morning...

I got up at 7:30 because Mike said he was coming over to finish spackling the kitchen. He didn't arrive till 8:00 and he quickly patched the kitchen up. I had to mop again because there was more dust being tracked around. It wasn't nearly as bad as last time. He still has to come back one more time and I'm hoping it won't make any more mess!

He left around 8:20 and I got ready and headed off to work. I had a lot to do to catch up on the work I had put off the past two days while I wasn't in for full days. It was actually nice to be there all day today... I hate when my days feel disjointed because I'm not on my usual work routine!

Re came in and did the closes and bank stuff as well as a few other random things. She finished everything so quickly -- I couldn't believe it. I feel like this summer, more than last year, she's getting everything done so quickly. Maybe there's less to do? I don't even know.

We also made a new patch for the Labor Day banner. The original banner said "petting zoo," but we're having pony rides instead and needed to update the sign!

After that, Re left around 12:30.

For lunch today I had pork which was part of the employee meal and then I left work at 5 and headed home.

I just had some cereal and watched World News and the repeat of the 11:00 Eyewitness News! They make a very big point of telling you that it's a repeat -- both before and after the show. It say this program was "recorded earlier for rebroadcast at this time." As if they don't record all of their broadcasts anyway. This one was specifically recorded for this special reason! So weird!

Anyway, I can barely keep my eyes open... Time to get a good night's sleep!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
