"the trip back home"

Hey Journal!

Well, our week-long journey has come to an end and we're back home now! It was a long trip home today and we had planned to get to bed a lot earlier than we are! I was falling asleep while watching TV shows before and then one thing led to another and we're still awake.

In the morning we're going to breakfast with Kristen so we have to get some sleep!

Today we got up at 4:10am at our hotel in Phoenix. We finished packing the last of our stuff and then we loaded up the car and headed for the airport. The sun wasn't even coming up yet when we left. We made it to the airport in about 20 minutes, dropped off the rental car, and =perfect timing- hopped on the shuttle just before it pulled away to head to the terminal.

We got in, checked our luggage, and there was no line at all. Security was a breeze, we were through in minutes, and our gate was the absolute first gate inside the terminal. We had to walk only a few steps! That's something different for a change!

The woman who was on our flight on the way to Phoenix was there and she came over to say hello and see how our week went. She had driven to California and went to Disneyland, and she said she enjoyed her trip as well. Funny -- she was wearing the exact same pink shirt that she was wearing last week!

The flight was direct which was nice but it was also kinda long. I listened to a few Scott Mills Daily podcasts because I'm really behind. It was good to make some progress in getting caught up. I also managed to get a few winks of sleep. Dan and I had the whole row to ourselves and so I was able to lay down and I put Dan's hoodie over my head to shield the light!

We landed about 30 minutes earlier than scheduled. We didn't have far to taxi and then we hurried down to pick up our bag.

It was perfect timing -- just as we walked out to the pick-up area, Linda was pulling around the bend. She got to see our friend in person, who came out and was talking to us there, too! She was everywhere we were!

Anyway, we put the suitcases in the trunk and then off we went. We had to drop Dan off at work and then we headed for the Belt Parkway.

We made a quick pit-stop at Linda's church because her mom was there and the kids wants to pick out pumpkins. We did that and then we headed towards home.

We were hungry so Dan called the pizza place and ordered to family feast! We planned to eat it there but thought it would be a good idea to call ahead so it would be ready and we wouldn't have to wait when we arrived.
The pizza was good and I'm glad we stopped. Connor almost checked on some cheese and Dan played a mean joke on Cameron by not giving her any soda when he filled everyone else's cups!

So, we ate and had a good lunch. It was about 4:00, I think, but it felt like lunch to us since we're still on Arizona time. Connor said, "yeah...JET LAG!"

Linda dropped us off at home and then we headed inside and the first order of business was laundry. I brought our dirty clothes downstairs and started up the washer. Dan jumped in the shower and I followed after he was done.

We also put the heat on in the house for the first time this year! It was a little chilly when we got home. It worked out perfectly though because I didn't want to put it on before we left since we hadn't' had it on at all this year yet. Now we'll have today and tomorrow to let it run and make sure everything working properly. No reason I would think it wouldn't... but just to be safe.

Anyway, after that it was time to catch up on missed TV. We watched The Real O'Neills, The Middle, HTGAWM, Shark Tank, and SHIELD! We made good progress... we only have a few more shows to go -- one more HTGAWM, Shark Tank, The Flash, and Secrets and Lies...I think! Maybe a few more than I thought, actually.

So, now it's time for bed! Like I mentioned, Relish for breakfast in the morning and I'm already hungry!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
