"spooky walk 2016" or "the fuzz"

Hey Journal!

This morning we got up around 10:30, officially, but we had woken up several times before that because of some loud noises outside. It was someone's landscaping service. It might have been ours, but I'm not sure. They usually come on Thursday but may have gotten backed up because of the rain.

Anyway, it reminded me of our old place when we would constantly be woken up by blowers and mowers outside our window!

For breakfast we decided to go to Javier's and that was a good choice! The food was very enjoyable.

Next, we decided we wanted to walk around somewhere and decided to go to the South Shore Mall. It was a little bit of a random destination choice but we wanted to go somewhere we don't go all the time.

On the way home, we stopped at Home Depot to et twine because tomorrow we are dedicating to the annual removal of the pampas! Yes, it's time to say farewell until next spring! We're going to do the same thing we did last year and cut it down, bundle it up with the twine, and the put it out at the curb.

When we got home, I put some laundry into the washing machine and then we watched two episodes of Quantico. Well, we actually didn't finish the second one because we had to get ready to go out to Spooky Walk. We made it most of the way, though.

So, I showered up and then packed up my warm clothing for the road. Every year it's a big guessing game figuring out how many layers to wear! Some years it's been absolutely freezing, other years it's been beautiful, and the problem is that it's so early in the season that we aren't QUITE sure what we need yet -- It's usually the first time I break out my hat and gloves each October!

To be prepared for anything, I packed a bunch of shirts and hoodies into my bag and also put on my thermals! Gotta have the thermals!
The plan was to meet for dinner at 6:00 at Applebee's! When I checked in on Swarm, it told me the last time I had been there was October 2015. That makes sense since it was last Spooky Walk!

Dan and I arrived first and put our name down. Mikey and Theresa came shortly after and they brought their friend Jeff with them. They seated us at a high-top table near the entrance. Christen had to stop to get money from the ATM and she arrived just a few minutes after we sat down.

We had a good meal and then we were ready for the Spooky Walk tradition!

The weather could not have been nicer! It was perfect for Spooky Walk! I actually felt HOT with the sweater and hoodie I was wearing. I wish ALL Spooky Walk days could be this nice! We really lucked out in picking this day! I left the gloves, hat, extra jackets, and hand warmers in the car! So nice. I remember a couple of years ago having a REALLY REALLY exceptional night, too. Even last night was cold so we got the best night for sure!
It was a little busier this year than it has been in years past. We had to wait from about halfway down the entrance line to get in and then there was a little backup at the first of the houses. They changed some things up -- they had a Zombie Circus instead of the familiar Psycho Circus. Club Boogie was back and we had fun dancing on though! That's such a random house but so much fun!

We tried to time it the best we could -- we forgot to start the clock when we entered but we were able to figure out when we went in. It took an hour and five minutes to get through. I think that's mostly because of the waiting we did for the houses.

Liz and Pete met us there -- they were actually parking the car at exactly the same time as us and we parked very close to eachother.

When it was over, we walked back to the car, said goodbye to Liz and Pete, and then we went to a bar in West Islip with my cousins to meet up with Dan and Jackie and see a band that one of Dan's friends was playing in.

Dan and Jackie had gotten there at about 9 and Dan and I arrived at about 10:15 or so. Mikey and Theresa and their friend Jeff came shortly after, and then Christen came.

We had a fun time at the bar and hung out there until about 12:15. On the way home we stopped at McDonald's to get McFlurries.

At home, Dan showered up, we watched an episode of Super Password and then the rest of Quantico from earlier that we hadn't finished.

Now it's late and time for bed!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
