"embarkation day"

Hey Journal!

This morning we woke up around 7:25 and got ready to leave Dan's parents' place and head to Miami for our cruise.

We made sure we had everything and finished packing up. We left around 8:30 and to get breakfast. We stopped at Wawa for gas and decided to get breakfast there. I got the French toast.

We stopped at a Publix along the way and picked up some Sparking Cranberry juice (in cans) to bring on the ship.

The drive from Stuart to Miami was about 1 hour and 45 minutes. As we made our way there, Dan's dad suggested that we stop by and see the place they stayed at last winter and say hi to the people they rented from.

I thought that was an excellent idea because my leg was starting to bother me from sitting in one place for so long- especially the car because in the back seat I could stretch it out much.

I got out once to take a photo of the Goodyear blimp that we randomly passed on the road and then we stopped shortly after at the weird shaped dome house where they stayed last year.

We rang the bell and the guy came out. He shows us his area and his very interestingly weird house. We were there for about 15 minutes and it was a welcome break for my leg.

We left and had about 40 mins left in the trip. We arrived here at the cruise terminal at almost exactly 11.

Dan's parents dropped us off right at our terminal, we handed over our luggage, and then we proceeded to the terminal.

The check in process has really changed since last time. Now, you go through security and then when you reach the terminal area you no longer have to show your passport or do any other checking activity. You just wait till they call your group. We waited about 15 mins and then they called group 16.

We boarded the ship and that was that!

They don't give you your cards anymore beforehand, they give them out at your room, in your mailbox! So wild.

We made one error this morning and that was NOT packing our bathing suits in our carry on! So we couldn't go in the hot tub until our luggage was delivered.

Anyway, we had lunch on the lido deck and then we headed to our room.

Our luggage wasn't here so we explored the ship some more. It's a nice looking ship but it does have some downsides. There are a few thing I don't like and I already know this isn't going to be my favorite Carnival ship.

When we came back to the room we took t easy for a few minutes and when Dan went to check to see if our luggage had come, the guy was just delivering our big suitcase. Just one of the three, but at least it was the one with or bathing suits!

Wahoo.

So we got changed and headed to the hot tubs in the Serenity area.

We hung out there for about 15 minutes but then we had to leave to go to the muster station for the safety drill.

We had to meet in the casino and now they check everyone in using their cards so they can make sure everyone is present.

After the safety thing, we went to the hot tubs and watched the ship leave Miami from there! It was great! I love leaving from Miami.... the palm trees the beautiful atmosphere! Really gets the vacation started right!

We were in the hot tub for about an hour before we got out and headed back to the room. On the at I got a hamburger and fries, Dan went to the gym and I went up to check it out too. I came back to the room and showered up and then Dan did the same.

The rest of our luggage came before dinner so we out everything away in our drawers and now we're all set.

We were a little bummed that we didn't get set time dining. This is the first time we've had to use the any time! It want bad but I don't know that I'm going to like not having a set table, time, and waiter.

Our waiter tonight was named Dewa which I remembered was he name of a waiter we had in 2009 on the Triumph. I have no idea if it's the same Dewa! Is that a common name!?

After dinner we went for a walk a round the ship, played some foosball, went to the liquor tasting thing, and then wound up on the lido deck. We are some popcorn and the movie was just starting.

The movie was that new Ghostbusters one. I had never seen it and I wasn't too interested in it but we started watching and then started for the whole thing. I enjoyed being outside and watching the movie on the ship so it was a good thing to do.

We made one lap around he ship after the movie and headed here to get to sleep!

Now we're off to bed and looking forward to a real "fun day at sea" tomorrow!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
