"day two" or "hamanteshen at Warm's"

Hola Journal!

As I wrote earlier, we got up around 11:20 this morning and got ready to start the day. We watched the Price is Right and then the News. It's funny that they get the City news channels up here, when it's so desolate and isolated and such. So random.

Anyway, we all took showers and got ready and then set out for some breakfast. We decided to go to a closed place, so we then tried a pizza place, which said it opened at Noon, but instead was still closed at 2pm. Ughhh! So we finally managed to find somewhere to eat...a place called "Warm's Restaurant." We went in, and there wasn't really anyone there...finally the lady came out and told us to sit anywhere, she'd be right out. After a little while a gust of wind blew the side door open and shut, and a light switch plate fell off the wall. A large woman ran out from the back, "Ellen!! Are you okay!?" So funny. It was such a crazy little place, but so cool in its own way! One of their "specials" was the Hamanteshen!! So RANDOM! Dan was amused because of our diner experience the other day, and Ilan knew what they were. They ordered them, too! So funny! Dan got an Omelet, Ilan got one too, Mike got something that I don't know what it was.. and I got two scrambled eggs. It was good eatin... the food was good, but I had to wait 20 years for my soda because the soda machine was broken for some reason! lol

Then a man came in to the restaurant who looked EXACTLY like Jen B's Uncle Kenny!

After eating, we went to visit Mike's other Aunt who lives nearby in a house that resembles an International House of Pancakes. (Blue Roof) It was nice, we stayed there for a while...took a walk.. and watched Animal Planet!

After departing there, we went to the one and only local supermarket... which happened to be a Grand Union! So cool! I love that place! :) It was a small one though, but I have fond memories of the one in Smithtown. We bought a lot of food... to make dinner tonight, and breakfast in the AM.

Tomorrow is Skiing! Sounds exciting. And since I never have skied before, I am very excited and looking forward to it.

Wee came back to the house, made it up the driveway, and cooked dinner. Dan read his book, and Mike did most of the cooking of the goods.

We ate Chicken and it was very very yummy. Dan made Baked Bris? (Cheese) and then we all consumed a hearty meal which was quite delicioso. After dinner, we watched some TV... and then took a walk outside with Mike's Aunt, Beautiful Karen.

Okay...I guess it's time that I explained the story behind "Beautiful Karen." When we came in, Mike introduced his Aunt as "Aunt Karen." She said, "Actually..that's my last name. My first Name is Beautiful!" LOL! It was so funny... at least to me... so I enjoy to call her that from now on.

We also made brownies.. which were very very yummy!

Anyway, our walk outside consisted of jumping on the trampoline and then looking for Bears in the woods. We didn't see any...unfortuanely..and then we came back inside. After a little while, Mike and Ilan wanted to go for a drive... so I went with them..but Dan wanted to stay back and read his book. We took a drive down the main street through town which was desolate at 11pm and then down a windy desolate country road in this "upstate" environment.

I totally could never imagine living up here! It's so crazy. To be like... 17, 18, 19, 20, 21 and the nearest mall is 45 minutes away... the nearest McDonalds.. the nearest.. ANYTHING (besides one supermarket and random mom and pop stores!) I dunno, It's nice to come here to get away for a week.. but doing it all the time would be sheer torture! It seems nice at times, but then the minute I wanted a new DVD... I'd be pissed. Meanwhile... I say that SMITHTOWN is BORING... well... Smithtown is full of activities when compared to here! lol

We got back from our drive and then watched some TV.. and then everyone seemed like they were going to bed. But, Dan started up a poker game, and we all sat around playing poker for a while.

I just opted out after about 45 minutes....We ate Mozzarella Sticks.. and now they are playing poker, and here I am writing my Journal entry.

Tomorrow is Skiing. We are waking up at 8:00, making breakfast, and then off to the mountain!

That's all for now...

Goodnight. :)
