"matt's visit to long island" or "calls from the future"

Hey Journal!

I am writing now about Tuesday the 7th. It's actually Wednesday, but I changed the date to make it less confusing for myself! So.. I left off with us planning to get up at 10:30.

We woke up and Dan went out to get bagels. He brought them back, and we had a little breakfast. We watched Ellen and then took showers and got ready for the day.

First we decided to go to the bluff... On the way, we were passing the Psych Center, so of course I couldn't resist showing that off to Matt. We drove down "Boulevard" and then into the park.. and we decided to park there, walk to the water, and then to the bluff. We did, and we walked a little ways down on the beach.

We went to Cow Harbor and walked around in Northport... we went out on the little boardwalk and then down to the Northport Historical Society museum. It wasn't a very large museum.. and not all that interesting. We were having a conversation about photography when we entered, and the lady thought we wanted to take pics of the items in the museum and started telling us about filling out forms and stuff! lol

Matt asked the lady for a tissue, and she had to find one in her pocket book.. "It might be a little wrinkled...but it's clean." (Something like that.) lol

We headed back, and then went for lunch at Panera! Matt had never experienced a Panera before, although he had heard tale of it's wonder. We consumed lunch, and then went down to the Golf Course to show him around there. We arrived and first we showed him the restaurant, and Matt taught us how to fold napkins. He is very educated in this art, being an excellent Banquet Server.

We went upstairs and said Hi to Dan's dad and everyone in the office, and I printed a password letter for one of the new members.

We then went downstairs, through the kitchen, and down to the basement to look at my office, and the other stuff down there. On the way, we stopped to talk to Jackie, and she talked to Matt about some things. She loved him, she wanted him to work there! LOL They are always trying to find people who are good, and like what they do.. and I think Matt was her ideal employee! lol She also told me that the Facebook ad had already gotten some responses, which was more than she even got from Newsday!! How great is that! I was so happy that it was actually working! Woo Hoo!

Anyway, the tax people had taken over my office, so I was not able to show him my desk and all, but he saw from afar. Then we went upstairs and took a little look out at the course and the lake, walked around the to driving range, and then Jackie called me, cause she needed help with something on her computer. We went back down, and while I was doing stuff, Matt was reading the server handbook thing. lol

After we left, we went to CVS and then to my house to let my mom know the deal for the day, and then we picked up Kristen McD, and went back to Dan's to play a game of Cranium!

We didn't actually finish the game, but we had fun with that. We had to leave to get to Friendly's at 7:30!

We met Jen B, Robby, and Matt there, and Matt brought along some people also. We had a good dinner, and then Jen B and Robby came back to Dan's for a "light" drinking night.

We started off by playing the "Who's Most Likely" game, and that was quite enjoyable..then played the game where everyone has a category, and you have to yell out something from the other person's category before they do if your cards match. Very enjoyable!! Hotels, Food Brand Names, States, Slasher Horror Movies, TV Shows, Movies with Dawson's Creek people in them... those were some of our categories! lol

After Jen B and Robby departed, Dan, Matt, and I conversed a little, and then Matt broke out the cell phone and we called some of his friends. We made a total of six calls where we actually got through to people, and two were voicemails, I think.

Two of the people we called lived in Colorado...and we kept asking them what time it was there... Dan was using "The voice from the Future".. and it was absolutely hysterical. We also talked to one of his friends who had done some rather upsetting Top 8 organization, and attributed it to her being delusional from a high fever she had! I can't even describe the phone calls properly.. they were HYSTERICAL!! I loved it. We also called someone from New Hampshire.. The Granite State! LOL..

Here are some quotes that Matt's friend Meg put on his myspace:
"I'm speaking through the future, its one-thirty where I am."

"How is cooking at an altitude? Do you have to use a boiler to cook carrots? No really, pressure cooker?"

"I'm jealous of her now because she has two more hours of life that I will never ever have."
"Move to California, get three hours."
"Hawaii!!!"

"We went into this yarn shop today..."
"She's the yarn girl?!??"

"Matt, you're drunk."
"Meg, I am. Meg, I am. Meg I am. It's one word. MegIAm"

"Enjoy the next two hours, a gift from Eastern Standard Time."

Anyway, that was hilarious, and finally at about 2:30 we decided to get to bed. We went online for a bit.. looked at some of the people we had just spoken to, and then discussed some other issues.

We then pulled out the bed, and then somehow I recall us having another conversation in Dan's room, and then outside again, and then finally we got to sleep.

We set the alarm for 8:15 because Matt had to catch the train from Ronkonkoma at 9:40 to get to Penn for his Amtrak home!

And that's all for Day Two of Matt's visit! We had a GREAT time, so much fun stuff!

Anyway.. I shall report on the rest later...

Adios for now. :)
