"niagara falls: part 1"

Hey Journal!

So, Last night I slept over Dan's house in preparation for our Niagara Falls trip! We got up at 3:00 and departed at 3:30 on the dot! It was fun leaving that early.. I always love getting up when most everyone else is asleep! LOL

We made great time on the way up, and we made our first stop at a McDonalds just past Cortland in Lafayette. It was a really nice McDonald's... it was on a little hill and it had TVs to watch. We watched the morning news while eating breakfast. The girl at the counter was a little clueless, but overall very nice and friendly, and she gave Dan a free orange juice. LOL I believe her name tag said "Abbie =)".

Anyway, we continued on our way and at one point I fell asleep for a little bit. Actually, I think I fell asleep before we stopped for breakfast... I fell asleep between Binghamton and Cortland, and woke up just in time to see the Cortland exits.

We stopped once more at a rest stop near Rochester to go to the bathroom and to get gas! It was great listening to our Sirius the whole way! woo!

We stopped in Buffalo to get money because we needed to use a Bank of America ATM, and we didn't know where to find one. I used my Verizon Navigator Free Trial thing, and it directed us to the nearest one, which was about 3 mins off the road in a town in Buffalo. When we parked in the parking lot, I swung my door open and almost hit this wonderful old lady. LOL So I turned to her and said, "Hello!" She said Hi. She was so cool.. She was little and short with curly white hair and these amazing round glasses. Dan said to her, "My legs are killing me...I've been driving forever." At which point she cranes her neck and looks down at his legs! I loved it! She asked where we were driving from, and we told her, and said we were going to Niagara Falls. She said "It's wonderful... once you go Once, you want to go twice!"

We got money from the ATM and then headed back on our way. We crossed over the Rainbow Bridge to Canada, and we waited in traffic for about 10 minutes to get up to the booth to state our business and to be allowed in. LOL

We got into Canada and found our Hotel. It was the Holiday Inn on Murray Street, BUT not the same one I stayed in when I came in 10th grade. You see, they changed the Holiday Inn to a Hilton, and the Holiday Inn moved across the street. Very crazy. Anyway, we checked in and got a card to get into the parking lot, but our room wasn't ready.

We took a walk down to the falls, and Dan had never seen them before. We walked along and took some pictures, and then went down by Journey Behind the Falls to see what the deal was for that. We bought tickets for the 2:20 tour, and then headed back to the hotel in the meantime.

We brought our stuff in and got settled just as the lady was finishing up cleaning our room. We then relaxed for about 20 minutes and headed back down!

We did Journey Behind the Falls and got our little yellow ponchos, and took the elevator down and went our on the little observation deck and into the tunnels behind the falls!

After that, we took a walk down to Clifton Hills and ate Pizza for lunch at PizzaPizza. It was good, and then headed up to the Frankenstein Haunted House, which Re recommended to us. Let me tell you, this haunted house was the craziest thing in the world.. it was pitch black, and you walked in and there was a staircase in the absolute darkness!! How dangerous! LOL We ascended and basically the whole thing was so scary because there were barely any lights! It was so weird. At the end we got a giant blast of air in the face which was so loud my ears were ringing! LOL So weird.

We then headed back to the hotel and took a nap for 2 hours, since we had gotten up soooo early! We slept till 7:30 and then went down to the falls, walked to the Power Plant, and then they lit up the falls at 9:00! We waited for the fireworks at 10:00, and the fireworks were short, but very enjoyable. The grand finale was very exciting!

After the 'works, we went to the Rainforest Cafe on Clifton Hills. It was a very enjoyable meal, and Mandy, our server gave us an extra side of fries for free. LOL Yay!

The Rainforest Cafe was very nice, and fun.. I haven't been to one since Disney like 5 years ago!

After dinner we talked up Clifton Hill and back to our hotel area via a street up there... We saw a lot of the attractions that they had up there, and there was a GREAT old 60-ish woman standing out on the street, swaying to some music, and as we pass, she said, "The nightclub is open, Guys!!" LOL We were like..."Ok!!" Dan turns to me and says, "Brian! The nightclub is open!" LOL She was cool.

Anyway, we went to the Casino which is across from our hotel, and it was amazing, and smoke free!! WOOO! I lost $5 CAD in the slots, but Dan took $20 and doubled it to 40! Sheesh. LOL Why can't I ever win!

After that we headed back to the hotel, and went to sleep!

End of Day 1 Niagara!!!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
