"dc saturday"

Hey Journal!

YEAH! Washington, DC!

Today was a fun fun fun day in the District of Columbia!

We got up at 7:30 and headed out of the hotel at 8:00. We got the Metro from Rosslyn to the Smithsonian and walked down the mall to the Capitol. We got tickets for the tour, and our tickets were for 9:50. We then went to McDonald's for some breakfast, and headed back to the Capitol for our tour!

The tour was very very cool, and very interesting. I've gone through many metal detectors today.. it's wild. I think this might be my one day record for the most metal detectors passed through. lol

The tour took us through the rotunda, into the old House of Representatives...saw many many statues, and then down to "the crypt."

After the Capitol, we went to The National Archives...

. We went through there little museum in the basement which was pretty cool, and then upstairs to see the Declaration of Independence and then Constitution! It was kinda dark and no flash pictures were allowed, so I did my best to get some pictures! lol It was really cool seeing these old documents. It's funny that on can barely see the signatures on the documents, they're quite faded... and yet in all the ones we always see...it's always so dark and bold.

Okay, so we then went to Ford's Theater to see where Lincoln was shot, and that was very interesting. It's a National Park... they apparently give 20 minute speeches but were on a break when we were there, but a nice Park guy gave us some information. He explained a lot of stuff. Then we went across the street to "The House Where Lincoln Died." It's titled that on the map and everything!

Next we took the Metro to American University! We went to the bookstore where I looked for a replacement of my Long Lost shirt. One of my Favorite T-shirts...which was lost one night when we went to Bobby Kiley's dorm.

Anyway, much to my disappointment they did NOT have the same shirt... I was so devastated, but I did find a nice shirt to buy as a replacement. I will learn to love it. lol

Okay, so..then we walked around American for a bit, then went into Dan's old dorm! It was fun. We then took the AU Shuttle back to Tenleytown and got lunch at Chipotle. Then we took the Metro back to the MetroCenter, and walked to the White House. We took some pictures from the lawn. It was now about 5:30. We walked down to the American History Museum only to use the bathroom, and then headed back to the hotel to get ready to go out to dinner with Tuomas. Tuomas was Dan's roommate at AU back in the day.

Oh...I forgot to mention two things... we went to CVS twice, once to buy Advil, and once to buy food for breakfast tomorrow as well as some drinks.

So, we met Tuomas at Ruby Tuesday's in Virginia for dinner. It was a very enjoyable dinner. He and Dan reminisced about their times at school and such, and then after that, we departed and looked for a supermarket. We wound up going to a 7-11, and then we went back to Tuomas's apartment. It's a really nice apartment, only like 10 mins from here. We hung out there for a while and some other people that Dan knows came over...Eitan and someone else whose name I do not know. We hung out there for a while. At about 12:30, they decided to go out to a bar or something, but Dan and I were tired cause we had been up since 7:30.. and we also knew we had to get up early today to do museums and monuments, so we headed back to the hotel.

Now it's time for bed! As I said, tomorrow...Museums...Monuments.. more fun, more pictures!

Goodnight. :)
