"meeting kevin covais"

Hey Journal!

Today I got up at 9:50 when my alarm went off, and I was a little confused, because I saw the "50" on my clock, and thought that for some reason my alarm had gone off for work, and it was way too early. However, I quickly regained my senses, and got up and got ready to start the day!

Re was supposed to pick me up at 10:45, so I took a shower, and got dressed and ready to go. Our plan for the day was to go pick up Dan, go to Kristen McD's Grandma's garage sale, go to Panera, and then head over to see Kevin Covais at White Post Farm in Melville!!

When Re came to pick me up, it was raining, and we were sad because we thought that the Covais thing might be cancelled. As it turned out, the garage sale did not happen.

We went over to Dan's, and he was waiting in his car, ready to go. As we headed towards Panera, we passed a million police cars going in the opposite direction, and it was really weird because they were even in the autobody place on the side of the street... we couldn't figure out what was going on. Anyway, after that we called White Post to see if they were still having everything today in spite of the rain, and they said yes! We were quite excited!

We went to Panera in Huntington, and had a very enjoyable lunch, then we went to the Halloween costume store next door, which used to be the "Giant Book Sale" that didn't sell any giant books. We then walked around the mall, and went to 7-11 where I got a Gatorade. lol

Now it was finally time to head over to the farm. We got there and went in, and we had a little time left before Covais time so we went to explore the place a little. We watched the Magic Show, and the man who did the magic is actually a friend of Dan's parents, so we said hello and stuff afterwards. Then we went over to the Ventriloquist show, which was REALLY REALLY great! I thought it was so funny. One of my favorite lines was, "You have a real early American look.... You look like a buffalo!" Also, these four kids had the same shirt on, it said "BOO!" on it, and the dummy says, "Boo!...Backwards it's oob! oob-boo." LOL It was really good. Then we had to go over to the stage to see KEVIN!! WOOO!

Let me set this up by saying, there was a small crowd...possibly because it had been rainy... but probably also because thins thing isn't really the most popular thing in the world anyway. It started with this "Hootenanny" thing, with these wild guys doing some crazy show! Then from across the lawn we saw Kevin walking toward us, with his mom, and his Dad and some other random people! LOL It was wild! We were so excited!

He came out on stage and sang some songs! A few from Idol and a few others. He also sang "How Sweet it is to be Loved by You", and he said this was the first time he's ever performed it for a crowd before! Woo, how exciting! Also, Kevin's mom was sitting directly behind us, and we were taking pictures of Santa Claus who was sitting down the bench from us, and she laughed at our antics! lol

After he sang, we went over to the little table and tent area set up on the other side, where Kevin was doing autographs and photos! It was so wild. While waiting on line, we got to brilliant idea to have Kevin sign a pumpkin, so I ran across the place to the pumpkin field to get one! I got back, we waited in line for a while, and then Kevin's sister was there too!

As we approached the end of the line, we purchased a CD of "Kevin sings Josh"! As his father said, "it has a couple of songs on it." Literally. 2! LOL Oh well, it was worth my $5. Maybe it'll go toward his college fund! There were some really creepy people on the line...like the weird girls behind us, the ones who brought a book for him, and the one that looked like a hammerhead shark.

I should also point out that we were definitely the oldest people there who weren't accompanying by a child. But don't think of that in a scary way.... we are just fun-loving fans! :) Plus our favorite quality is Kevin's sorta-dorky kinda-awkwardness.

Anyway...We got up to him, and said HI and all... Dan asked him to sign the pumpkin, and he said, "This is a first for me, today!" and then asked, "Would you like me to personalize it?" And Dan asked him to write Happy Halloween" on it!! SO GREAT! Then I had my CD and picture signed, and Re got a little card signed... "Kristen, Best Wishes... Kevin Covais" So great. We almost left Kristen behind.. without getting her picture signed... just because it was like.. i dunno... flustering. First I got a pic with him, and then a group shot!

I had my blue Old Navy jacket on, and after the picture, he told me... "I have that jacket!" and then a few seconds later, his mom says, "Kevin...you have that jacket..." and then his Dad says, "yeah, he does!" How great is that! LOL I love it.

Okay.. so then we milled around and looked at the animals...the Llama and the Alpaca were making horrific noises at eachother and biting eachother! It was crazy!

Okay.. so then 3:40 rolled around and we got second row seats for Kevin's next performance. It was very exciting. He sang some of the same songs as the first time, but also some different ones. Every time there's a lull.. or instrumental part of a song, he encourages everyone to clap and stuff cause it's just this weird silence from the audience!

Anyway, we had a really fun time there.... It was cool meeting him, and I know that most people think I'm crazy..but he's just cool! LOL Oh well!

Anyway, after that we drove around a little, and then headed over to Branchinelli's for dinner. We waited a little while and then got seated. It was a good dinner.. I got the baked ravioli, and it was REALLY good.. I ate all but 1/2 of one ravioli!

We wanted to do something fun after, but had no real plan... Re and Dan wanted to see Jackass 2, but I really don't have any desire to see it.. so we went to Michael's crafts for Kristen to buy some paper for her class, and then we went back to Dan's to regroup and then figure out something to do.

We came back and wound up watching Deal or No Deal on CNBC for a long time! We watched a few really good people! It was the season premier and the next two episodes, I think... and this guy had the $3,000,000 case, and wound up settling on $675,000. It was intense though! They were weird people though, from Staten Island, who all had CRAZY accents and the twin girls were WEIRD looking.

Anyway....after that, we watched some of the Smithtown Town Board meeting on TV... which is always ridiculous, as Vecchio SCREAMS at people like a crotchety old man! It's crazzzy! They really need to upgrade their equipment, because sometimes you can barely hear what people are saying, and you can't tell what day it is, and you can't read the stupid sign they put up on the table!

After that, we went upstairs and conversed with Dan's brother for a while... and then it was time to depart. Re brought me home, and now it's time for bed!

Tomorrow, I don't have anything planned really.. just a day off, and hopefully sleeping late!

Until tomorrow,

Goodnight. :)
