block party 2007

Hey Journal!

Today was the BLOCK PARTY!!! How exciting!!!

I got up at about 11:00 and called Dan to see where he was. He was driving on the expressway with Shawn heading back. He dropped Shawn off at a relatives house somewhere along the way, and then came home.

We had breakfast, and got stuff ready for the Block Party, and went over!!

When we got there they were still setting things up, and we walked up and down the street a few times, and got in the block party spirit! It was a little cool out, everyone was saying that it turned into fall! They had the inflatable slip and slide set up, but it was so cold, I didn't think I was going to go on it.

We took Dziadzi for a walk up the street, also.

Then Lau arrived, and we took a walk.. and then the fire department came, and set up their fire hose thing to shoot water up in the air, and make a giant stream of water come down (as well as a giant stream of water go down the street, which was fun, too!).

I was tempted, so I put my bathing suit on, and I only got a little sprinkle at first, but then I just went for it, and went under the freezing cold water! It was so much fun, and then since I was already went, I went for the Slip and Slide! :)

After that, it was time for the Cotton Candy to be operated again. Lau and I manned the machine for a while, getting blue stuff all over ourselves! Earlier I had gotten my whole hand covered in it! They only had the blue cotton candy, which isn't nearly as good as the pink... but it was alright! I had way more than I should have! lol All that sugar can't be good for you.

Lau had to leave to go out to South Hampton, so we said our goodbyes.

Lots of people were arriving, and Dan played Beer Pong with his dad and a new neighbor and his brother.

Later on, Dan and I wanted to make roasted corn, so we started getting it ready, and then Mike, Meghan, and her friend Tony came by! We all prepared the corn, and then soaked it for a while while we did a walk down the street. They had the dunk tank, and ice luges, and all kinds of craziness going on!

When we got back, we started up the grill, and began the exciting process of roasting the corn. It was quite an experience for us all, but we managed. One corn went on fire, but it was contained quickly by Meghan. Thank Goodness!

The corn turned out GREAT! :) I love corn! Mike even brushed them with butter, because "he's like Martha Stewart without the ankle bracelet."

We hung out for a little while longer, and took another walk up the street. There were Jello shots up there for us!! Then they departed because they had another block party to visit.

Later on they did fireworks, and the DJ was going and all.

We hung out back at the house for a while, and then Dan helped clean up... and then we departed at about 11:15!

So, that was Block Party 2007!! A great time had by all who participated! :)

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
