"new visitor's center" or "old ebbit"

Hey Journal!!

Well today we really packed in the excitement. We woke up at about 7:30 and got ready for our day of sightseeing, and all of that.

We departed the hotel at 8:00, got to the Metro station, and took the Metro to the Capitol. We arrived at the old Visitor's Center, where you USED TO get the tour tickets (because it said on the website that's where to go.) There were signs saying to line up there... but there was noone around. So we asked a policeman nearby, and he said that they had opened the new visitor's center, and directed us to it.

Now, first off, the new Visitor's center was really really nice, and much needed. It's so much better than the stupid way it HAD been set up in the past. This makes so much more sense. But when does NOT make sense, is to build a really nice new visitor's center, open it to the public, and then LEAVE the old signs up, and NOT update the webpage, so that people are confused and misdirected.

When we got in, the lady at the coat check said that they had just opened it on Tuesday! That's pretty cool.

So, our tour of the Capitol was quite fun. Pretty much the same as the last two times I did it. lol Our tour guide, I think his name was Rich... he was pretty cool. He said that one of the other tour guides had typed up some piece of legislation or something, and that she was "a national treasure."

After that we went to the Holocaust Museum, very good. That was the second time I was there. Then we got tickets for the Washington Monument, went to the Lincoln Memorial, walked through the Vietnam Memorial, Walked around the White House, saw the Christmas Tree, and then at 3:00, took our trip to the top of the Washington Monument. This was only the second time I was up to the top. The first was my first ever trip to DC, when I went to visit Dan at school, and that will be 5 years ago in March... so a little less than four years ago. Every other time we came, there were no more tickets.

Then we went to the National Archives... My second time for that. Saw the Declaration and Constitution.

Then it was time for DINNER. We went to a REALLY nice restaurant called Old Ebbits Grill. We had to wait about 45 mins, and we were exhausted from walking all over the place... but ti was worth the wait. Such a nice place, and the food was AMAZING. I got the filet mignon, and it was sooo soo good.

It started to snow a little, before dinner actually, and then after we headed to the Metro, and back to the hotel. We got back a little while ago, and really have nothing else to do..so it'll be a relatively early night!

More fun planned for tomorrow....

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
