"new year's eve 2009"

Hey Journal!

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2009!!!!

I have always liked odd numbered years... not because they have been better than even numbered years for any particular reason... (although lots of good things have happened in odd numbered years...) but I just like the look of them better. I think in general I like odd numbers better. I know, I'm crazy...

Well, let's see... This is actually my entry for yesterday... covering New Year's Eve... so I will save my look back at 2008 for later, and tell you about yesterday's activities.

We got up around 10, with the intention of leaving here around 1. But, we looked outside and it had started to snow, so we figured there may be some traffic on the way, so we should leave a little earlier.

In case I didn't already mention, we made last minute plans to go visit Jimmy in RI for New Years! It usually takes about 3 hours to get there... so we figured we'd get there in the afternoon, and then go out to dinner, and then to the bar.

So...traffic was horrendous. We only stopped once for a 5 minute bathroom break, and it took us 6 hours to get there! Insane. We left at 12, and arrived at 6:15. There was no problem on Long Island, but I95 in Connecticut was soooo sooo bad. The roads themselves weren't bad at all....but people were just driving so slowly! It was so frustrating. Then finally it just opened up and we sailed the rest of the way there, but we lost so much time. The arrival time on the GPS just kept going up and up and up!

Well, we arrived, and Jimmy directed us to park in a parking lot across the street, and then we brought our stuff in to his apt. We hung out for a little while, and then went to dinner at the Cheesecake Factory.

Then we headed back to the apt... got my camera, Jimmy got some movies to play at the Beer Bar, and we got to see his pet hedgehog, Steve. lol He wasn't very hungry, and wanted to burrow himself in Jimmy's arm!

So, we departed, and got to the bar around 9:15ish. Jimmy had to get there early for work, so we were there for quite a long time!

At first it seemed like 6 hours there was gonna be insane! From 9-3! The first hour went a little slow, but we hung out and little by little it got more crowded, and then we moved from the 3rd floor, down to where Jimmy was. Before I knew it, it was 12:00!! Dan and I went upstairs a little before midnight to watch the ball drop on ABC on the TV at the bar! :)

Then the rest of the night went by pretty quickly!!

It was lots of fun! We left a little before 3. We got back, and pretty much went right to sleep!

We didn't wake up until late this morning.. but that's for next time!!

I'll be back later with today's update!

Adios for now. :)
