"dan's birthday dinner" or "lean back coco" or "fried wontons"

Hey Journal!

Today I got to work as usual, and spent the morning catching up on CPC stuff. My plan is to finish up all the payments that came in this past week on Monday and Tuesday, so that nothing is left over for while we're on our cruise!

The day went by fast. I had a hefty helping of Chicken Vegetable soup to hold me over until lunch. For lunch, I got two grilled cheese sandwiches. (One just isn't enough!) There was quite the controversy today, because one of the specials on the board today was a salad that claimed to contain "fried wontons." Dan's dad and mom got the salad for lunch, but did not receive any wontons. He called up to the kitchen to inquire about the wontons, and they said they had some upstairs if he wanted to try them. So, he went up. and found that they were actually these fried chinese noodles which WERE in his salad... but they were definitely not Wontons! So, this was a much discussed and investigated topic! The final ruling was that the items in the salad were really friend chinese noodles, or...by a stretch... "friend wonton noodles," but they were in no way "fried wontons."

In the afternoon, on the news, there was a dog in Los Angeles in a river, and the river was so shallow that the water didn't even go up to the dog's knees.... and everyone was in a frenzy! Everyone at work was so scared for the dog, and they had firefighters and helicopters and all this insanity going on, all to save one freaking dog! Do you realize how expensive it is to fly a helicopter and to deploy an entire fire and police department. California is having money troubles! No wonder why. If it was a person... of course you should use those resources to save them, but they wound up sending a man down there on a rope from a helicopter, and he wrestled the dog, getting BITTEN by it in the process! Insanity. Do you realize how many animals die in the wild every day?! What a waste of time, money, and energy for a city's emergency response people.

Anyway, moving right along.... I left at 4:00 to go to the bank and post office, and do other assorted errands. I got to the drive-thru at the bank, only to realize I had left the checks I was supposed to deposit ON MY DESK! ROAR!!

I got home, and cleaned up a little, and then when Dan got home from work, we got ready to go out for his birthday dinner!! :)

We went to Bertucci's in Hauppauge, and we met Kristen McD, Don, Re, Lau, Ryan, Jen B, Scott, Liz, and Steve and Jay there. We had a nice birthday dinner. We had a long rectangular table, so it was hard for everyone to communicate! We got Dan a Tirimisu, and everyone came over and sang to him... good times! :)

After dinner, we went over to the OTB and bet on some horses for about an hour! We bed on all kinds of crazy names, like "Lean Back Coco," and "Sand Pleasure"! haha! It was insane, but we definitely had a wild time. In the end, on the last race, we won like $10! We split it up and got like $2 each back! Oh well, it was still a fun time... and quite an experience!! Everyone in the place was sooooo quiet, we were definitely the life of the party. We were having a grand old time, and laughing and joking!

We came back here afterwards, and we played two rounds of Shout About Movies, and took many pictures with Jacob! haah! It was fun!

Anyway, I'm gonna get to bed now!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
