"carnival freedom" or "embarkation"

Hey Journal!!

Here I am...reporting directly from the Carnival Freedom! Woo Hoo!! What a long day!!

We got up this morning at 6:15! I barely got any sleep last night. I had so much to do to finish getting ready, and then I couldn't fall asleep! I didn't get to sleep till about 1:30!

So, at 6:30, my mom picked us up, and we did all the last minute stuff we needed to do, and then we were off! We got to the airport a little before 7, and checked in our luggage, and then through security, and waited for our plane.

We left at about 8:35 and got in about 10 minutes later than we were scheduled to. The flight was good, nothing to complain about. There was a little turbulence, they said there might be some.. but it really wasn't bad at all.

I wanted Plane Cookies, but instead they only had cinnamon cookies. They were good, though.

We got to Ft. Lauderdale, and took a van cab thing to the Port! Woo Hoo! We had to wait on line, and check in, and all that, and then we were on the ship! :)

I was kinda exhausted, and in a funky mood until the evening... I was just tired, and felt stressed out.

At 1:30, our rooms were ready, our room is all the way forward on Deck 6. It has a big window that looks out the way the ship is going, and actually.. it's very different that our other rooms have been. In a way, I miss our other "classic" style room. Dan's mom and dad's room is the classic one. We have a handicapped room! It's crazy. It's bigger, and the bathroom is huge. There are some annoyances about it though, but overall it's good. A different experience.

So, nicknames so far... are pretty lame compared to some of our other cruises, but so far we have...
Ice Water - A guy who was on line behind us at check in, and kept saying that.
Snow leopard - An old man with splotches of white hair, on his otherwise brownhaired head.
The Knaves - Three guys who are always together, and were in the hot tub together in the afternoon. (Rub a dub dub, three men in a tub.. etc. etc.. Throw them out, Knaves all three!)
String bean - Tall kid
Going Down - Kid in the elevator.. who was going down.

We had lunch, and they had this stir-fry area, and whenever they would use this particular spice, everyone around would start coughing! It was crazy!

So, we set sail at 4:30 and the people who live in the building near the exit of the port are crrrrazyy! I remember from last time, too... they stand there and wave, and blow air horns, and have flags! They're really into it! I love it.

At 5:00, we went to the Spa raffle, and of course, we didn't win. That's where we made another nickname.. Slim Jim.

We explored the ship, of course, and then we went in the hot tub. The one down by the main pool was luke-warm, and so went to the one in the "Serenity" area, which is the no-kids area of the ship. It was much warmer, and really nice! It was a beautiful night!

Then we went to dinner. We were supposed to be in the Posh dining room, which is in the back of the ship... but our table there was in a really awkward spot, right against a wall, and kinda claustrophobic, so we spoke to the Matire'D, and he re-assigned us to a table in the other dining room.. called the "Chic Dining Room." We had a table in the middle of the room, and it was nice. Our waitress was kinda wild.. she's a tall woman from Bulgaria, and she was kinda man-ish. She messed up a few things for us tonight... but hopefully she will be on her game the rest of the week! Jessica was ill, so she did not come to dinner.

After dinner, we went to the Welcome Aboard show, and met the Cruise Director, Felipe! Then there was a comedy show.. it was alright.

We went to the casino, and tried our luck on Super Jackpot Party! We did not have any, apparently, as we lost $10! Then we got some ice cream, and called it a night! Now, we're just getting ready for bed, so we can rest up tonight, and have a SUPER FUN DAY AT SEA TOMORROW!!!! WOO HOO!!
