"day of adventure" or "lion dancing"

Hey Journal!

Today was a "day of adventure!" It was a full day! A complete day! I loved it!

We had made plans last night to go out this morning for breakfast to iHop with Re. We got up at about 9:30 and got ready, and Kristen came over at around 10:00, and we made our way to iHop! As I write this now, it feels like that was days ago! I can't believe it was just this morning!

We had a short wait, and we actually got a really weird table which was almost IN the kitchen, so we asked to wait until another table was available. It was only a few minutes more, and we got a nice on in the real dining room. The complete iHop experience. We all got the "regular" all you can eat pancakes, and varied our eggs and bacon/sausage selection. It was a fun breakfast... I was totally full on pancakes before finishing my last one, but I pretended to want more so I could get some to take home. Our waitress was quite amused with how full I seemed to be.

After that, we went over to the Deer Park outlets and walked around. Re bought a picture at the Christmas Tree Shop, but other than that, we just browsed. Oh wait, no, I forgot... I got my mom some weird little thing she had wanted from the "As Seen on TV" section of the Gourmet Chef store. The guy at the register offered me a sale on popcorn bowls. I declined.

After that, we went to visit Dan's Dziadzi. He was having lunch, so we made it quick. His friend Elwood who sits at his lunch table did most of the talking. Dziadzi just observed. We noticed a woman across the way, giving him googley eyes, and smiling the whole time. Re and I were especially aware of this, we kept looking over at her, and she had this crazy grin on, and was totally staring at him. Turns out, THAT is WILMA! THE Wilma with whom he was spending some quality time with recently!

Next we went to Sears to check out Treadmills and ellipticals. We went to the one in Commack. It's a strange place. lol

On the way back, we stopped at Tropical Smoothie for Dan, and then continued home. When we got back, we watched the old 1963 Disney movie, "Summer Magic!" WOW! What a movie. It was certainly something. The reason we had gotten it from Netflix is because it had the song, "Ugly Bug Ball" in it, which was always a favorite of ours from the Disney Classic CDs! Well.. this movie was NOTHING like I had imagined. I thought it would have cartoon bugs, and they went to some sort of party, and well.. my imagination couldn't have been farther from the truth. It was a live action movie with Haley Mills as the star. The family, from Boston, has three children who look nothing like eachother, and of course, Haley has a British accent. It's all very crazy! Anyway, the story was good, but it had sooo many random tangents that had NOTHING to do with the plot of the movie. They could have edited out about half of the movie! One of those parts was the Ugly Bug Ball song! It was so..out of nowhere! It was funny, but so not what I had envisioned! Also, the song, "On the Front Porch" was in it! Wild!

As much as I was a little critical of this movie, I really did enjoy it. It wasn't the best movie I've seen, but I enjoy watching old Disney movies and seeing how things used to be. So I do not regret watching it at all.

Next up, we hung around the here for a while, and planned on going out for dinner. We saw online that a Long Island Curling club was having a thing tonight, where we could go and try out Curling... and we were SOOO excited!! Scott messaged us that he was home, so he came over... and we went to Lotus East for dinner! We got there a little after six, and when we arrived, we learned that at 8, they would be having LION DANCING! We were a little disappointed because we would certainly be done eating by then!

So, we had our dinner... Kristen got an alcoholic beverage... the Zombie! It was apparently the strongest drink ever! So strong, she had to get some extra juice to mix in!

We had our usual, and favorite, waiter. Love him! It was a good time as always! When we were done, at 7:10.. he asked us if we would be staying for the lion dancing! We hadn't intended to, since it would be so long... but he convinced us! While we waited, we played the movie game for a while, and then the six degrees of separation game.

Finally at 8:00, it was time for the main event! It was wild! These giant Chinese Dogs came in, and danced around, and knocked the lamps off the ceiling, and did all kinds of crazy things! They had giant mouths that flapped up and down, and the came by and we put little envelopes into their mouths with money in them. (Our friend came by and gave us little envelopes to put the money in!) So weird, but it was so amazing! It was so worth the wait... I'm so glad we stayed!!

When we left, we had to hurry and get going because the Curling event was in Long Beach, which is about 50 minutes away! We got there quickly, and arrived right before it was supposed to start, at 9:30! We went in, but there was no sign of anything Curling related! Scott asked the man there, and he said there was NO Curling going on! He said they did that LAST YEAR!! What the heck! It said it RIGHT on the main page of their website! How ridiculous is that. Needless to say, we were sooooo disappointed. We were really really looking forward to this! How exciting would it have been to say that WE had actually PLAYED Curling!! THAT WE...had put the STONE in the CENTER OF THE HOUSE!! It would have been fantastic! :(

Alas, we left, defeated, and took a quick drive around Long Beach, as none of us had ever been there before.

We then started the drive back home, but stopped off at Friendly's for ice cream! The service was unbelievably slow, but it was no big deal. I got my cone head! Mmm!

We got home, and Re headed home. Scott stayed for about 15 mins more. Then Dan and I got ready for bed, and I am super exhausted now! It has certainly been a full day. Curling was a let down, but it was still an adventure! THIS is what EVERY DAY SHOULD BE LIKE! FULL of fun and excitement!

Alas, I must get to bed... all this excitement has tired me out! I'll probably sleep all day tomorrow! :P

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
