"ikea" or "block party flop"

Hey Journal!

This morning we got up around 10:30 and hung around the house for a little while, watched an episode of Dr. Who, and got ready for the day.

Our first stop was to help my mom with some random stuff. My grandparents are away for the weekend, but they asked if I could come over and set the time on the automatic sprinklers, because it was messed up, and kept turning on at like 8pm instead of 6am. That took about two minutes to fix, and then I installed two new smoke/carbon monoxide detectors for them. They had purchased them a few weeks ago, and I figured they really should get them working!

Before we went over there, we stopped at the Bagel store and got some breakfast, and ate it when we arrived. I didn't get an orange juice, thinking that surely my Grandma would have orange juice... but sadly... she did not. :(

At about 2, we departed, and out plan was to go to Ikea with Kristen and Don! They had to get some large items, so we met them there. We arrived around 2:30, and they weren't getting there till about 3, so Dan and I walked around the mall for a while until they arrived. We were also a little hungry, so we went to the Ikea food thing, and I got meatballs. I was a little sad because they only gave me 14 instead of 15 meatballs. Someone doesn't know how to count. :(

We also went to the Target in the mall... and THEY are getting a real GROCERY department! Why can't one of OUR Targets get that!! We neeeeeeed it! I would never go to a real supermarket ever again. I love Target. Please give me a grocery department.

Anyway, we had a fun time walking around and shopping. There was some weird man with his pants pulled all the way up, and what Dan described as a "front butt." Dan tried imitating him, and that made for some good pics! Kristen and Don picked out two bookcases, and two nightstands. We got gloves and AAA batteries for our Tivo remote! haha!

Kristen pulled around the load the goods into her car, and we were able to fit it all with the back seat down, and the passenger seat folded down also! This meant that there was no room for Don! So, he drove with us on the way back!

While stopped at the light heading south on 111, just under the expressway, this woman in a hideous looking boxy BMW pulled up, and she looked over at me with this face.... and her mouth... her smile was just like the Grinch... it curled up at the ends, and went from ear to ear! She was scary.

Later on, at the light where you make a left to stay on 111, this man with no shirt on pulled up next to us driving a Hummer. He was so scary. THEN... He moves up, and we see him flashing his muscles.... we're not sure at who yet... and then we realize... HE'S FLASHING THEM AT THE WOMAN!! They started having a conversation out the windows! AND... We could see them both in their rear-view mirrors, and they were both smiling so scarily at eachother. It really was a perfect match! I wonder if he followed her home!

We got to their house, unloaded the heavy bookcases and carried everything in, and then we checked out the party going on at the house next door. A little backyard BBQ for the woman's grandson in the army, in Alaska. He came home. We decided, after careful assessment, that he had a slight case of alien-face.

A little after 5, we headed over to Dan's parents' house for their block party! Unfortunately, they had anticipated it to be pretty dull this year because lots of houses weren't participating, and I'm sure the crazy rain in the early afternoon didn't help anything!

We arrived, and hung around for a little while. Then the alarm at the golf course went off, and for a bunch of ridiculous reason noone else could go tend to it, so Dan and I went. We got there, and the kid who had been working said that a member had come back to get something out of his locker, and after finding the front door locked, he decided to go around back, and managed to get in.

We went back to the block party and hung out there for a while, had dinner, and checked out the happenings there. The DJ was awful. His speakers were cracking really badly, and he was so creepy looking... he had a cowboy had and was smoking, and had his stuff set up on this little folding table... it was a total disaster!

We headed back home around 10ish, and watched an episode of Dr. Who. Now we're both pretty tired, and it's time for sleep!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
