"birthday dinner" or "x=13.5" or "day with re" or "passed out driver"

Hey Journal!

This morning we got up at about 10:30 and decided to get the day going! We went to the mall to walk around, and already had plans to go out to run some errands with Re. She called as we were arriving at the mall, and said that she would be ready in about 20 minutes. So... We quickly made our rounds and then headed over to pick her up.

Our first stop was Blum's in Patchogue. Re was looking for a bra. We arrived, and the she asked a woman for help. The woman had an attitude, but told her to go to the back. We went over to the area where she had pointed, and there was a counter and some people milling around... we waited a little while, and then the crazy woman appeared and took her inside the dressing room area. They went into this tiny little curtained area, it looked no bigger than 2x2x2! It was so small, I couldn't figure out how they both fit in there without it being ridiculous!

They were in there a while, and apparently her rudeness continued! Dan and I walked around the store for a while, and then decided to go take a short walk on Main Street. When we got back, Kristen had just finished, and so we were on our way.

The next stop was the Irish store across the street. She had to pick up a little picture frame with some sheep, and a quote inside for her mom. We looked around and found the one she was looking for! The woman there gift wrapped the frame, and I have to say... she was the slowest wrapper ever! It was wild.

We were kinda hungry, and decided to go to Panera for lunch. We went to the one on the Sunrise Highway just a little bit east of where we were. We had our lunch, and I got a lemonade to drink.... I don't think I have ever gotten Panera lemonade before.. and it was GREAT! :)

Then, conveniently, our next stop was Babies R Us, and there just happened to be one next door! We went in, printed the Baby Registry for Kristen's cousin, and then began searching for the items in the store!

After that, we got back on the highway, and we passed brown pickup truck with two adults in the front seat, each with a little child on their laps! The driver had a little boy who was not strapped in and had his hands on the steering wheel! How dangerous! First off, the driver HAS to be distracted by that, and if they had an accident, the kid would either be killed by the airbag or thrown from the car! No brains at all! How could people have children and then not care one bit about their safety. Maybe a pickup truck wasn't the right choice for your family car.

Our next stop was the mall. Re had to purchase some goodies for JC's upcoming bachelorette party. We went to the store and found some goodies. Re was trying to take a photo of a cup to send to Jen B, and some bitchy girl who worked there was really rude to her in telling her that they don't allow customers to take photos. Stupid policy to begin with... having someone take a photo in your store is probably the best advertising they will ever get... but it's their choice to make a rule, either way, it's not right to be a ravenous bitch about it. Long story short, I let her know how I felt about her, and left.

Next, we had to go to the bank for Re to retrieve some cash! She went in to the ATM, and Dan and I parked along the curb in the parking lot waiting for her. We were pulled over to the side, with our flashers on, and leaving MORE than enough room for two lanes of traffic in the aisle. Several cars passed... no problem. SO.. this woman pulls up alongside us, and now blocks the WHOLE road. She is motioning for Dan to roll his window down...I saw her, he didn't.. so I told him. She asks if we were having car trouble. What a nice concerned lady... or was she!!!?

Dan says no, that we are just waiting for our friend who is in the bank. She tells us, "You're not allowed to park her." and makes a motion towards the "NO PARKING" sign nearby. Dan politely informs her that we are not parking, we're standing, which is perfectly fine.

She then says, "Well you shouldn't stop there... you're going to get hit from behind." She kept going, and going, and going, as Dan just told her "thanks a lot have a nice day byeeeeeee" As she pulled away, he yelled to her that he hoped the guy whose bumper sticker she had on her car would lose the election! haha.

So... It was a crazy afternoon... we had a few run-ins. Not a typical day for us... but eh.

We had a little time to kill before going out to dinner for my birthday! I needed to take a shower, and so we came back home, I took a shower, Dan got some ice and made us some frozen drinks.. (with the blender.. not the GRANITA machine..which doesn't work.)

We watched an episode of Dr. Who with Re. Actually, we re-watched the last episode we had seen! It was definitely a good one, even though the Doctor wasn't in it that much! I think it was a good one to introduce Re to! She was scared of the Weeping Angels!

When the show was over, we hung out for a bit and talked while we waited for Kristen and Don to arrive at 7. They knocked on the window, and scared us! We headed off to Outback, and met Jen B and Lau there. The light at the table we had was blinding, so we unscrewed the bulb to set the mood.

Dinner was good, and we had a fun time. Afterwards, we took a nice group picture in the parking lot (you know how much I love those photos) and then we went out for a drink at the Library Cafe. Unfortunately, we couldn't sit down and talk really.. and the space near the bar was quite cramped. We had a good time, though, and had a drink there. It was probably a little far to drive just for one drink, but it was all good.

After that, we decided to come back here and hang out for a bit. On the way back, Dan and I drove with Kristen and Don, and Lau, Re, and Jen B went to pick up Jen B's car at Outback.

As we approached the light at the corner of 347 and 111, Kristen noticed that a car up ahead was stopped, and people were having to go around it. We cautiously switched lanes, and then checked out the car as we passed. Inside, there was a woman who looked dead behind the wheel! I mean, at this point, she could have been dead, had a heart attack, passed out.. who knows! She was about three car lengths from the intersection, and her car was stopped with no flashers on.

Dan called 911 while going over to the car. Don pulled the car into the parking lot of the diner, and we all ran over to see what was going on. When we got over, Dan had opened the passenger side door and reached in to turn off the car. After he did that, the girl started to come to. She was very confused, but put the car in park, and Dan took the keys. She got out, and Don moved her mini-van into the diner parking lot.

We waited for the police to come, and Kristen and Don made small talk with the woman! She identified herself, and was just chit-chatting.

Eventually, the police man came, and he checked her out. He definitely saw that something was out of sorts with her, and he asked her if she was taking any drugs. She said she had taken a pill at 8:00, but she was really out of it!

The police officer subtly shuffled us along, and so we left and headed home.

We told our tale to everyone else when we arrived back at the house, and then I opened my presents from Re and and Kristen and Don.

We watched a funny YouTube video that Jen B had recommended of these teenagers who had their wisdom teeth pulled. It was wild!

Lau, Re, and Jen B left a little after midnight, and then Kristen and Don hung out a while longer. We noticed that You've Got Mail was on TV, and I was instantly addicted to watching it. I love that movie. For some reason I totally think I own that DVD, but was unable to find it in my collection. I must be going crazy! On the first commercial, they departed!

It was a very nice birthday dinner! It totally didn't feel like my birthday yet, and I'm still not sure it really does, but it was a great time tonight! Thanks to everyone who came! :)

Now I have to get to bed! I can't keep my eyes open anymore!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
