Hey Journal!

Greetings from Washington, DC! Well, actually more like Fairfax, VA... but close enough!!

This morning I had to go to work, and when I got there, I was really really in the mood for some toast with butter! I got it, and it was really really good! I had some random stuff to do in the morning, I sent the e-mail to the members about the new Superintendent, and then just spent the rest of the day trying to get everything I wanted to do finished before I left at 2:00.

I came home, and Dan had arrived just a few minutes before me. We packed up, and got ready to head down to DC!

We left at about 3:00, and stopped at Burger King for something to eat on the way. Julio was also planning to go down to DC this weekend, and so we made plans for him to hitch a ride with us. He met us at a subway station near JFK airport, which was right off the Belt Parkway. We picked him up, and continued our journey.

We hit some traffic in a few spots, a small portion of the Jersey Turnpike, and then again in Maryland for a broken down truck, but other than that, it wasn't bad. We stopped twice... Once at the Walt Whitman Rest Area on the Turnpike, and again at Cracker Barrel for dinner! Julio had never been to Cracker Barrel before, but he loved it. He was very excited by it's extremely "American" feel.

We got down to DC around 11:30, and found our way to Julio's destination. He's staying with some friends near Dupont Circle, so we headed over there, dropped him off, and then made our way to Dan's Uncle's house.

We got there a little before 12, and his Uncle was already asleep, but left the door open for us. We got in, had a drink, and got ready for bed!

Our plan is to get up around 9 tomorrow, have some breakfast, and then take the Metro from Dunn Loring to the mall! I don't know how crowded it will be for the rally... but hopefully we'll be able to get a good spot! Then, in the evening, we're going out to dinner with Dan's Uncle and cousins!
