"black friday crazy" or "dan fights woman for tv"

Hey Journal!!

Where do I even begin! BLACK FRIDAY 2010!!! WOOO!!

Well, my day basically felt like two completely different days. We went to bed last night around 10:30, and our alarms went off at 1:30am for Black Friday shopping!! We got up, got ready, and off we went to meet at the diner. Lau was there when we arrived, and Re and Erin came shortly after. We had breakfast, perused the circulars, and devised our plan!

We headed out at about 2:45 to get to Kohl's by it's opening at 3am! The line was really long, past the Outback, and over to the edge of the parking lot. Last year, it was much much shorter! They opened, and the madness began! Last year, we saw this crazy woman with wild red hair, who we nicknamed Scarlet! She was there AGAIN! YES!

Dan and I didn't have any real plans today, and nothing we had to buy, but Lau wanted to get a few items, and Re and Erin had some things in mind, so we helped them out! Lau went for some pieces to a Christmas village set, and she found the ones she was looking for. They were 60% off, so she got a good deal!

Then we were off to Target! They opened at 4, and we got on the line. The line curled all the way around the store, and ended all the way behind the store! It took a while to make our way inside, and it was already a madhouse inside!! WOO HOO!

Erin wanted a camera, and Re wanted a TV. First we concentrated on the TV, and we found them located on the opposite side of the store. The one Kristen wanted was a hot item, and was all gone by the time we got there, but there were people with more than one, and we saw them give them away...so we figured it would be a good idea to hang around the area, and see what happened.

A man with two of them decided to let them go, and he gave one to a man, and left the other one. Dan snatched it up, and started to walk away with it. All this happened so fast, Dan, Re and Lau were there, and Erin and I were standing a few feet away over by the shirts, and missed most of what happened. Then, a woman grabbed the TV as well. Dan turned around and she said he had it first, which she clearly did not! Dan very calmly turned around and grabbed the handle she had her hand on, and walked away with it, and she was like, "I hope you're happy with yourself!!" It was amazing!!

Re and Dan took the TV to the front to check out and get away from the crazy lazy, Lau went to find her DVD, and Erin and I went in search of her camera! They had tons of them at the Electronics counter, but you had to wait on a long line to get one... so we asked a woman, and she said that they were also on an end cap, and we could just take it to the regular registers! Woo! We ran around searching for the end cap, and asked people who didn't seem to know, but one woman who had one told us where it was, and we found it!

We went to get on line to pay for it, but couldn't figure out their line system... it was very disorganized! Then, we saw Lau on line, and hurried over to her! We paid for our stuff, and Dan and Re came back in, and we went to sit out in the car for 10 minutes until it was time for Best Buy!!

We got out of the car around 4:50, and now it was raining a little more than before. Earlier it had been a very light mist. We saw that some people had taken the fence sections from Home Depot and put them on top of shopping carts to make makeshift lean-tos! It was crazy! The line went all the way down to the farthest entrance to Home Depot!

When we got inside, our mission was a TV that Dan's mom wanted us to get for her, and Lau was looking for a $149 netbook for Ryan.

So, we split up again, and Lau got a spot on line for the netbook, and Dan and I went to look for the TV. The one she had originally wanted was a real doorbuster and you needed a ticket for it. It actually turned out to be good, because that TV would have been way too big. We wound up getting her a $499 42" TV, which will probably be prefect for where they want it.

Dan and I brought the TV out to the car, and then he went to drop it off at their house. I went back in and stood with Re and Erin on line. Lau was a few people ahead in the line. There was a crazy asian man behind her who KEPT asking to borrow her circular, and he kept saying, "Laptop. Netbook!" over and over again! Behind us in line, we had a strange character who had no concept of personal space! The whole time he was about 1 inch away from Re! It was ridiculous!!

We finally made it to the front of the line, but unfortunately all of the $149 netbooks were gone, but Lau was able to get one of the $199 ones!

Erin purchased a $7.99 SD card for her new camera, and then we headed out! Dan was already at the mall, so we dropped off Lau at her car which was at the diner, and then Re dropped me off at the mall. I went into Penny's and got my free snow globe, and then met up with Dan. We walked around the mall, but then the exhaustion hit, and so we headed home. On the way out, we saw Lau coming in! She had decided to go for a little more shopping!

We headed home, and got to sleep around 8am! And that was the end of part 1 of today's events!

We woke up around 1:00pm from our "nap." (More like our night's sleep!) We took it easy, watched some TV, I posted the pictures from yesterday, and then got ready to do something for the afternoon. I took a shower, and we departed at 3:00.

We got a quick bite to eat at Panera, and then went to meet up with Re at the mall. We went back to all of our stores from the morning to check out the aftermath!

We went to Kohl's, and Re had some things she wanted to look for, however she didn't wind up buying anything. We did, however, see what Lau's "Christmas village" items were not as good of a price as she had paid in the morning, so that was a Black Friday win!!

Then we went to Best Buy, and Target. It was interesting... both of them were not as "destroyed" as they had been in previous years. I remember going back at night a few years ago and finding the stores in total disarray from the craziness of the morning, but somehow they manged to pull it all back together. Dan and I wanted to see if they had any of the picture frame sets that were part of the "2-Day Sale," but unfortunately, there were none.

After that we parted ways... Re headed home, and we stopped to say Hi to Nicholas, who was working, and then we continued home as well.

I was hungry this evening, so of course, I had some leftover turkey. We watched some TV and just hung around, and now it's 2am! The day's craziness really threw off our sleep schedule! I'm not even that tired, but I guess I should get to sleep!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
