"happy new year - cause it's the first day"

Hey Journal!

Happy New Year... Cause it's the first day!

This morning, Dan and I got up around 10:30. We wound up staying in most of the day, even though we planned to get out and do something. We did some laundry in the morning, and unfortunately, we locked our key to the laundry room inside. :P

We watched a couple of episodes of the Twilight Zone, and then Dan was watching a show on the Science Channel, and I fell asleep on the couch. I abruptly woke up about ten minutes later, and decided to move into the bedroom. I took a little nap, and before i knew it, it was almost 5:00.

Where did the day go!?

We decided to go out to Denny's for some food, but first we walked around the mall. It was strange, all of the stores were closing at 6:00! How random. You would think stores would open later on New Year's Day, and stay open untilregular time. It's not like anyone DOES anything special on New Year's Day, so why would they not go out and shop? It's weird.

So, we asked Liz if she wanted to join us, but we hadn't yet heard from her, so we headed over there. I get the make your own Slam. It took FOREVER for it to come out! It wasn't AS bad as our first experience there, but it was pretty close. Too bad Re wasn't there to experience it with us! Then, when the food finally came, my order was wrong... they gave me bacon instead of pancakes. The girl who brought the food, however, seemed much more competent than our waitress, and she corrected it in like two minutes. (In fact, she even gave us two extra sausages... not sure why.)

After that, we heard from Liz, and so we went to pick her up. We didn't really have a plan, but we decided to just drive around and have a fun random night. Our first stop was Target and then Stop & Shop. We needed to get some ingredients for a Chicken Pot Pie. We decided to make that for dinner tomorrow, and needed some pie crusts and chicken and stuff.

Then, we went to Red Mango in Smithtown. It was the first time we were ever there. Liz highly recommended it. I'm not really a yogurt fan, but Dan and Liz partook. Then, we went to 7-11 for Dan to check his work lotto pool tickets. I got an Orange Soda, and the man charged me for a Big Gulp instead of a Gulp. I was angry about that!

We had no direction tonight, so we drove around and wound up in Huntington. Then we came back here and looked at our old middle school yearbooks, and then watched a couple of Mr. Bean episodes! :P

At about 12:30 or so we brought Liz home, and now it's time for bed! I'm exhausted! It was a fun first day of the new year!
