"easter sunday at the zoo"

Hey Journal!

What an amazing Easter Sunday! The weather in DC was BEAUTIFUL! AMAZINGLY Beautiful!

We woke up at about 9:00, and decided to go to the National Zoo, or the National Zoological Park, as it is called! We packed our bags and said goodbye to Dan's uncle, and then departed. We wanted to go out for breakfast, and decided to try iHop. We weren't sure if it would be crowded or not, but figured we'd give it a try.

It was great, there was noone waiting, and we got a table right away!

We had our Easter breakfast, and then headed off to the zoo. It was about 75 degrees out, the sun was shining, the sky was BEAUTIFUL and it was just such a HAPPY, great day!

I know I sound really corny... I'm sorry... It's just that it's been so depressing at home all these months of winter, and this day was so perfect and people were outside, and the trees were green! It was amazing!

We went to the zoo, and parked a couple of blocks away. We walked around and saw elephants, pandas, shrews, and other crazy creatures!

The temperature got up to 85, maybe even a little higher! It was crazy!! When we left the zoo, we were all sweating and exhausted!

We stopped at 7-11 to get some drinks, which was refreshing, and then we got in the car, and headed home! As we left DC, we saw lots of people out enjoying the day, and it was so nice! Ahhh! I wish it was like that here.. I need nice weather NOW!

We had a fun car ride, and kept ourselves busy. We played a game, and conversed, and it was good times.

We stopped for lunch at a Sonic in Maryland, and when we got back on the road, we hit some bad traffic on the Jersey Turnpike. It subsided, but we hit some more even worse traffic around the Goethals bridge! UGH!

It took us like 20 minutes to go the distance it would normally have taken 1 minute to cover!

Once we passed that, it started POURING, and then after the Verrazzano Bridge, there was horrible traffic on the belt and the BQE, so we had no options! We decided to get off the highway, and go through Brooklyn instead. It was probably a really good choice because we zoomed past a huge line of cars that we would have been in! We took the Jackie Robinson Parkway to the GCP to the Northern, and luckily there wasn't a bit of traffic on any of those roads! :)

We wound up getting home around 10:30 which is much later than we had planned, but it wasn't SOOO bad. I mean, sure.. I would have liked to have had some time to relax and watch TV when we got home before going to bed, but it was alright!

So all in all, it was a really fun weekend! I had a great time, and it was an Easter weekend to remember!!

I took a shower when we got home, and got ready for bed, and was sleeping a little after 11:30! Now, it's back to work! Another full week ahead! Yikes!
