"city day with julio"

Hey Journal!

This morning I got up around 10:30, and Dan was still sleeping. I hung out and went online for a bit, and then at about 11:00, I went to wake him up so that we could get ready and get on our way to the city for the day!

We planned to go and hang out with Julio today. I went online and found a parking garage nearby for only $10, as opposed to the $36 it would have cost us to take the train, plus the ride would have been LONGER and we would have had to take the Subway... It also would have been at inconvenient times, no doubt. So, once again, mass transit in New York is not a sensible alternative.

We left here around 12, and we stopped to get bagels for breakfast. We only had a very little bit of traffic near the bridge, and then we found the garage, and walked to Julio's apartment.

First, we took a walk over to Google to see where he works. It was pretty cool! The first floor we went in had a crazy kitchen that was decorated like a jungle, and then we walked around and Julio gave us a tour. The building is really cool, and they have whiteboards everywhere, where people write random things and ideas, and all sorts of stuff. They have a giant Google Earth thing with eight big monitors in a circle, and you can see 3D views! It was really cool. We looked up the golf course, and my grandma's house, and London!

There were a bunch of meeting rooms and conference rooms that were all themed and decorated really cool! They have tons of kitchens and food everywhere, and game rooms, and fun things everywhere!

We saw Julio's desk, and then we headed out.

It was a little misty outside, but not too bad, and we took a walk to High Line Park. I had just heard about this park on the news last week because they opened a whole new section of it! It was build on what was an abandoned railroad line, and it's really cool!

We walked the all the way up to 30th Street in the park, and then we went to Madison Square Park for the "Barbecue Block Party!" It was a really cool little event! They had lots of barbecued food for sale and we loved this one called "Whole Hog!" As we were passing by, they were dumping a cooler full of pulled pork into the garbage, and were letting people come by and taste it! I didn't get any, but Dan and Julio did, and they LOVED it. Later, we came back to their booth, and I bought a pulled pork sandwich! It was REALLY GOOD! I loved it!

Then we got some dessert, Dan and Julio got this crazy cobbler a la mode thing, and I got a blondie.

After that, we walked back down towards Julio's apartment, and went to a bar nearby. We all had a drink, and then we headed back to his apartment and his friend Colin came over, and we watched some of the horse race at Belmont on TV, and then at about 7:30, we headed back to the car.

We got home, and watched some TV, I took a shower, and now it's time for bed! I'm pretty tired! Tomorrow, we're going to Ikea with Re to purchase some more items for her new apartment!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
