"harry potter exhibition" or "throw a quaffle at jen b"

Hey Journal!

This morning I got up at 8:45 and got ready for a day of fun in the city to see the Harry Potter Exhibition with Re and Jen B!

Jen B arrived at 10, and Re arrive a little later. Unfortunately, it was a little bit of a rainy day... and by "little bit," I mean that it rained the entire day, nonstop! Apparently, we pick good days to go to the city, because when we went for Bodies, it was raining like crazy and really windy!

Jen B had a good idea in wearing flip flops, so I decided to do the same. I didn't want to have to deal with the soggy sock feeling, and I was afraid of a do-over of our rainy day in Disney World this past trip!

We hit the road and there were some pretty big puddles in a couple of spots along the Northern State, and a little bit of traffic as a result. It took us about an hour and 15 minutes to get into the city! We took the Queensboro Bridge, and then found our parking garage!

It was actually my first time driving into the city in a really long time, and actually, believe it or not, probably the farthest from home that I've driven my car in over three years! Weird!

We had found a parking garage for only $12, and then we walked to Times Square. It was about a 10 minute walk, and the rain was coming down, but we had umbrellas, and it wasn't bad. It was a GREAT idea to bring flip flops, though! My feet would have been drenched, and I would have been crabby! It was so nice to walk around, let my feet get wet, step in giant puddles, and have no problem at all! I have to remember that in the future. Rain = Flip flops!

So, we got to Times Square and went to the Discovery place where the exhibition was. There was a huge line for tickets, but since we had purchased ours at Price Club, we had to go to the Will Call line to exchange our vouchers for specific time tickets. It was great, there was just one other person on line! It was about 12:45, and they had tickets for the 1:00 group, but we decided to go with 3 to allow us time to get some lunch. In retrospect, we could have gotten 2 or 2:30, but it all turned out okay!

We went to eat at Dallas BBQ. Jen B and I got some margaritas, and I went wild and got the Half Chicken (white meat, of course!)

After lunch, we headed back to the exhibition, and got on line to go in. Unfortunately, it was a little too early, and the guy wouldn't let us in yet. We had to stand on the side for a bit. I told Jen B to charm him into letting us by, but she would not.

So, a little before 3, he let us go downstairs and get in line. We got our Audio Tour things, which came free with our ticket, and then waited for them to let us in.

First stop was the Sorting Hat room, where three people got picked to be sorted. Noone volunteered to be the third person, so Re went! She was sorted to Gryffindor!

The exhibition was cool, and it was very interesting seeing some of the props and costumes from the movie. I though it was really interesting seeing the giant Jack in the Box that appeared for only 5 seconds in the movie! It's wild what they have to make!

All in all, I was upset that we weren't allowed to take any pictures... that would have made it a LOT more fun. In the absence of pictures, I think it could have been a little more exciting. But we all still had a very fun time. It was a nice day!

We also got to pull mandrake root, and Re and I threw a quaffle at Jen B. (And into the hoops, but throwing them at Jen B was more fun!)

We were done at about 4:05, and then we took the Subway down to Prince Street to go to the Scholastic Store Soho for Re. She had a list of items she wanted to buy for her classroom and was very excited to go there.

The stop we got off at was right nearby, and she perused the goods there for a while! Unfortunately, it wasn't as great as she had hoped it would be.

We went to Duane Reade to get some drinks before heading back... we were all pretty parched! Then we hit the Subway and took it up to 23rd St, and back to the parking garage! We picked up the car, and then we were off on our drive home!

We took the Queensboro again, and then the Expressway all the way home. There was no traffic at all, so I was very happy!

Dan, of course, was at Shawn's bachelor party in Atlantic City last night, and they left to head home in the morning, but it took almost 5 hours for them to get back. He arrived home just before I did.

When I got home, Jen B and Re departed, and Dan and I went out to Target to get some much needed provisions! We had no food or drinks at all! We were really in need!

On the way home, we ordered and then picked up some food from Branchinelli's! Dan got a meatball hero, and I got pizza.

When we got back, we ate, watched TV, and I took a shower.

Now, it's time for bed! Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
