"homecoming and fen amici with linda"

Hey Journal!

We woke up this morning around 10:30, and got ready to go over to Caitlin's parents' house for a post-wedding breakfast! They had told us to come around 11:30, but we were running a little late and wound up leaving home at about 11:35. We figured we would just be fashionably late. lol

On the way there, we passed about five houses in a row on her street that were having a garage sale! It was crazy!

We arrived at about 11:50, and there were some cars outside, but we didn't know who was there, so Dan tried to call Shawn to see if he was there yet. He didn't answer, and neither did some of the other people he called, so we decided to go in! There were only a couple of people there, and Shawn, Caitlin, and the entire wedding party had yet to show up! Caitlin's mom got us orange juice, and they were continuing to get the breakfast ready.

Caitlin's brother, sister, and friend were there, so we were all sitting in the living room waiting for breakfast. Then they told us that one of the bridesmaid's boyfriends had died last night after being at the hotel. Apparently, after everyone called it a night and went to sleep at the hotel, he decided to take a walk down 454, past the airport, and somehow got hit by a car. It's crazy that just last night he was there at the wedding! And what's even weirder to figure out is where he was going?? I mean... there's nothing down the road that way.. no restaurants, or stores, or anything that you could possibly want to go to at 5:30am!

So, that was the reason that everyone was late to the breakfast, and the mood was kinda somber after that. After a while, people got talking and tried to have a good time at the breakfast, and then every time someone new would arrive, it would go back to being sad. It was almost like, noone knew how to act, and didn't want to be having too much fun when they shouldn't be. If that makes sense.

We stayed there until about 1:30, and then we headed home. I got changed and got ready, and we planned to go over to Linda's to watch the Seaford Homecoming parade and have a day of fun! First, we had to return Dan's tuxedo as well as Shawn and Patrick's tuxes. We had to get Dan's shoes, which were in his dad's car, so we went up the golf course to pick them up.

We got the shoes, and then dropped them off at the Men's Warehouse in Massapequa, which was right on the way to Linda's! It worked out perfectly! The light was so long to get out of the shopping center that we wound up making it back in the same cycle! It was crazy.

We arrived at about 2:20, just before the parade started! Luckily, we took a back way there since the street was closed off further down. We didn't realize it at the time, but it turned out to be a good move!

When we arrived, Linda was across the street talking to her neighbor. They had never spoken before, so she figured she would introduce herself! We hung out over there, and watched the parade. It was a pretty small parade, but fun nonetheless! Some of the floats throw candy out, and that was fun. I got a three musketeers bar and some Gobstoppers, so I was pretty happy!

After the parade, we went back to Linda's house, and then walked with Conner and Cameron down to the school to check out the homecoming game. Linda, Dan, and Conner played hopscotch for a while, and Cameron and I went on the playground! She has no fear at all... she wanted to go down the pole, and she would just step off the ledge as if nothing bad could happen!! I had to run and make sure I was down there to catch her as she stepped off!

Then, we continued walking down to the field and around by the bleachers and all. We made our way back, and Dan and Conner were just finishing up their hopscotch, and we stood at the fence for a while and watched the game. Then we headed back to the playground for a little bit, and then went back to the street!

We walked to the woods, where there is a big nature preserve, and decided to check it out! Cameron fell asleep in the stroller, and amazingly she stayed asleep while we off roaded with her, over tree branches and big ditches! We came across some kids doing some illegal activities in the woods, but we ignored them. lol

Anyway, we made out way back out, and then headed back to Linda's. We were all getting hungry, so we contemplated where to go for dinner. We wound up deciding on Chili's, and then we piled into Linda's car. I sat in the back between the carseats! We got to Chili's and unfortuantely, they had a very long wait... so we decided to go somewhere else. I called Texas Roadhouse, and they had an HOUR wait, so we decided to go to a restaurant called Fra Amici, which is in an old Friendly's!

It was actually a pleasant surprise, and I'm really glad we picked that place. It was nice, no wait, the food was good, and we all had a good time! I got the Spaghetti with Sausage, which is the same thing that Conner and Cameron got to split! Conner was putting cheese on his spaghetti, when he dropped the cheese shaker right into his bowl! He was completely unfazed and picked it up again, but it was hysterical... it was caked with spaghetti sauce! :P

I was taking some pictures, and a waitress came over and asked if we wanted her to take one "of the whole family!" We said yes, and she did. She also told us that she's a professional photographer, and that's her other job! How lucky we were to get the waitress who also takes good photos! And I have to say... it did come out very nice. She did a good job!

On the way back, Dan wanted to stop at Dairy Barn, and he purchased some Nestle Crunch bars for dessert! We played Yahtzee, and just as we started, Dan got home from work, so he played also. We played two games, and then had our ice cream!

Towards the end of the night, Conner fell off of the kitchen chair and scraped his back on it! He fell pretty hard, and was crying for a while, but he seemed to get better pretty quickly. Then, when Linda told him to go up to bed, he ran up the stairs and I followed him. He went under his bed, and I think he may have rubbed the scrape on the carpet, and it made it hurt again, cause he started to cry! :( Since he was under the bed, I asked him why, since he just got a nice big-boy bed, does he usually sleep under it? He said "no, it's dangerous to sleep under the bed." Oh, and that reminds me that earlier, he was going to show me a ladder that's usually on the roof, and it was gone, so I asked him who took it. He said, "Probably a creepy person."

Anyway, I pulled him out from under the bed by his feet... but stopped a little too soon, and he lifted his head up and hit it on the bed, so that made him start crying again! :P

He came back downstairs, and was feeling better watching TV sitting on the couch. It was about 11:30, so Dan and I said our goodbyes, and we headed home. We told Conner that it was our bedtime also.

So, we headed home, and I took a shower, adn now it's time for sleep! It was a fun, full day! Tomorrow we're going to sleep late, and have a relaxing Sunday! The whole day today... it felt like Sunday. Probably since we did so much yesterday.... Anyway, it's really nice that we have another day to catch up on sleep and relax before heading back to work!

Alrighty... off to bed!

Goodnight. :)
