"woodloch: day 1"

Hey Journal!

This morning we got up at about 7:00 and got ready to head off on our Woodloch adventure!! We Left around 7:40, and got to Linda's around 8:15. She was still getting ready, and getting the car packed up. Connor and Cameron were asleep, but Connor woke up before we left!

We hit the road at about 9:15, and Connor wanted to ride with us. We didn't have any traffic on our drive at all! It was great. Hopefully we won't hit too much on the way home on Wednesday! :/

We took the Throgs Neck Brdige and then the George Washington. The GPS said to take Route 17, but we decided to take 80 to 15. It was a little bit of a "scenic route" with smaller roads, but it didn't really slow us down overall. We stopped to get gas, and then stopped at a Dunkin Donuts later, and we arrived here a couple of minutes after Linda, Dan, and Cameron.

On the ride, Connor told us about the songs he was learning in school, and sang a bunch of them for us. lol At the Dunkin Donuts, I got a vanilla frosted donut and I was asking Connor what he wanted, and he chose the "Boston Scream!"

So, when we arrived, we went to the registration desk, but our rooms weren't ready yet, so we just hung out for a while. We took a little walk around, checked out the coat room (lol) and the game room, and then we headed to lunch!

After lunch, Dan and Dan wanted to go play golf, so they took a ride down to the golf course, and Linda and I went to Zombie Bowling!

Zombie Bowling was run by a girl named Leslie, and she ran a tight ship! It was actually really fun, but very random. We had two teams of five people, and we had to stand on little dots, while the other team rolled a ball at us while we stood there! Unfortunately, our team lost by two points, but we still got Silver medals! :) Connor was very excited about his silver medal because he had a gold one at home, and had always wanted a silver! He was so excited that on the way out he passed an 18-year-old-ish boy and was like "LOOK WHAT I GOT!" and shoved the medal in his face!! lol It was funny.

So, after that we went to the "Woodloch Forest" which is a really big play place area! We got to go in too, to "supervise the children" but it was really fun! It was a little hard to get around because it was so small, and the hard plastic parts hurt my knees, but we tried to stay in the padded areas, and that was alright! It was a lot of fun.

After the forest, we decided to check to see if our rooms were ready. Linda's was, but ours wasn't. So, we went to the car and got all of the belongings to bring in. We packed the loggage cart, and wheeled it all in! Then, we went to the bumper car house!

It was pretty cool... I've never seen bumper cars like this before... they were one-seaters, and they had two handles that controlled it! They were a lot of fun though. The first time, it was just me and Connor, then Connor and Linda went, and then more kids started coming. Dan and Dan had finished golfing, and headed over to the bumper cars to meet us there. They went on, and then after a few more rounds, we headed back inside. We went back to Linda's room, and Dan went to the front desk to see if our room was ready yet. It was, or so they said, so we headed in.

When we opened the door, we noticed it was NOT ready... there was garbage on the floor, and an empty bottle of patron on the dresser, papers on the floor, and other randomness. As Linda also pointed out, there was pee in the toilet!! Insane!

So, Dan called the front desk, and they said they wound send someone right away! In the meantime, we hung out in Linda's room and then when they were done cleaning, they came to let us know. Connor ran to the door and told the lady that there was pee in the toilet! Then he turned around and came back into the room, and said, "I told her so she wouldn't forget!"

After that, we got ready, and headed off to dinner!! I got the pork loin and we got a free round of drinks from the bar because of our room mishap! The waiter came over and said, "the front desk offered to buy you a round of drinks." Nice!! I got a cranberry vodka.

After dinner, we went to the magic show. They guy was pretty good. My favorite trick was when he made his assistant disappear in a little box thing. It was pretty cool, actually.

During the magic show, Dan got a call from his dad saying that he had been in a bad car accident upstate. He was upstate hunting, and was crossing an intersection, when a 17 year old girl came down a road, didn't stop, and hit the side of his car. His car flipped over, and is totaled! Crazy. Thankfully, he is okay, but just feels a little sore. He's going to get a ride home with a friend, and head back tomorrow. Really scary, but it's amazing that he's alright.

After the magic show, we went back to the room and got some drinks, and then we went over to the Woodloch Forest again! We had a fun time hanging out there... for most of the time it was just us! I hurt my toes trying to climb up the slide, and then hurt my leg when I banged it into a little padded bar! :P Woops!

Then we came back and hung out in Linda's room for a bit, and now we're off to bed! It's been a fun-filled packed first day, and tomorrow we have breakfast at 9am!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
