"grandma's 83rd birthday" or "fireworks frenzy"

Hey Journal!

What a packed day we had today! We were out almost the entire day with only a short 15 minute stop back at home in the afternoon! It was crazy hot out, and we just kept going!

We got up bright and early at 9am. We got ready, and met my mom at Strathmore Bagels in Setauket to see the one and only Norman Vincent. We had breakfast and enjoyed the music. My mom loved it, and during his break, he came over to our table to say Hi. My mom requested a song by America, and he said he had NEVER been asked to play that one before. He knew what it was, and said he would try to play it! He took a minute figuring it out, and then did a great job! (I've never heard it before... but my mom said it was great!) He played Sister Golden Hair for us, too!

We sat there for a while enjoying the music, and then we departed and my mom went home, and Dan and I went to the mall. We took a little walk around and we said Hi to Scott who was at work.

After that, we went to CVS to get a birthday card for my Grandma and saw Erin working there. Then we went over for my Grandma's 83rd Birthday party! It was a small gathering, we were the first to arrive. Then the triplets came, my aunt Regina, and that was it! Pretty small, but we had a fun time.

We got pizza for lunch, and my mom, Dan, and I went to pick it up. While my mom was in the pizza place, Dan and I walked down to the former Nesconset Branch, and I peered through the windows to see what had become of it. You could see where the doors to the children's room, community room, and storage room had been covered over! I could see the outline of where the circulation desk was, and it was pretty weird seeing it empty like that! My first job.

Then we headed back, ate out pizza, sang happy birthday, and ate cake!

I helped Eric make himself iced coffee, and then we watched some TV, and I helped my Grandma order a book on Amazon.

We were going to hang out with Julio today, but he said he had a 104 fever yesterday, and it was 99 today! Even though he was feeling better, his mom insisted that he stay home, and that was probably a wise idea!

After we left at around 4:00, we thought of going in Dan's parents' pool. We went over there, but it was cold and unvacuumed, so we decided not to.

We came home for about 15 minutes to get my cell phone charger, and to pay our Verizon bill.

Then we were back out on the road, and headed to hang out with Linda. She was over at her parents' house, so we met her there. We were there for a little bit, and then went to Target. Connor had a scab on his arm, and he hit it on the shopping cart as we walked around, and it busted open and started to bleed!! We immediately went to the BandAid section and found one of those big bandages. I opened it up and started to put it on his arm, and he was like "WAIT!!! DID SOMEONE SAY WE COULD USE THAT?!?" (Since clearly we didn't pay for it yet!!) I told him No, but it's an emergency, so it's okay!

Then we wandered around and did some random shopping. We needed to get shaving cream, so we got that, and the whole time Connor was playing a game on Linda's phone. While he was playing, he was very out of touch with what was going on around him, and Dan kept putting random items in the basket next to him, and then put a helmet on his head, and he was not phased by this at all!

We stopped for a few minutes in the book section and Connor read one of the Elephant and Piggie books that Re likes. It was about an ice cream cone! He really liked it!

After Target, we went to dinner at Texas Roadhouse. It was good... in fact, I really liked my food... more so than the previous times we had eaten there.

We had to make a quick 7-11 stop after dinner because Cameron needed a new diaper, and then we hurried over to watch the fireworks at Eisenhower Park from afar. It was INSANE near the park. TONS of people were there... it was total chaos, but we parked on some residential street and walked (ran) to a parking lot where we could see the fireworks fairly decently. It was good, we got to see them without being in the mobs of people, and it was cool.

Then we went to Friendly's for some ice cream. We had a fun time there, and on the way out, Dan asked for a balloon for Connor and Cameron. The girl told us they were out of helium, but would give us the balloons anyway. She said there was a helium shortage, which we thought was just a joke. Then, Linda came over and saw us blowing up the balloons, and said something about the helium shortage!! We were shocked! Who knew!?

When we went out the car, we played with the balloons for a WHILE. It was a ton of fun! Connor was in the car, and we were outside the car hitting the balloon and trying to get it in the window! It was so much fun, and we were out there for a while playing that!

At about 12 we called it a night and headed home! What a full and packed day! We had a lot of fun!

Also today, we had been planning to go to Governor's Island, but since it was so hot, and since my Grandma's party was today, we decided to put it off till tomorrow.... BUT... because it's going to be super hot again tomorrow, we think it'll be better to save for another weekend. Also, we need to rest up after today, and we may be going to the city on Wednesday... so I think taking tomorrow off is a good idea.

When we got home, I took a shower, and now it's time for bed!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
