"cora" or "old montreal" or "tom's apartment"

Hey Journal!

Today we got up around 10:30, and by the time we got out, it was probably about 11:00. We walked into the city, and we went to breakfast at a place called Chez Cora. It was a REALLY nice breakfast place, and the food was great!

I got the "Special Cora" which was eggs, sausage, ham, and a crepe. The crepe was a little weird, but everything else was amazing. The crepe tasted like what my uncle used to call undercooked pancakes... Mancakes.

After breakfast, we took the Metro further into downtown Montreal and we walked around and went to the mall there. They have some stores there that are popular in England but that they don't have in the US, so we wanted to check them out. Then we walked to Old Montreal. Dan wanted to stop at a place called Brutopia. It was a cool little pub-like place, and since it was the middle of the afternoon, it was pretty empty.

The bartender was really nice, and she let Dan sample some beers, and we hung out there for a while. We watched the Olympics on the TV there, and we had a good time. The owner of the place was doing liquor inventory, and I thought it was a really cool system they used, so we asked him about it. Basically, you scan a barcode on each bottle, and then you scan the level of the alcohol, and you can keep really good liquor inventory. I think it's great, and would love to get something like that at the golf course.

When we left there, we continued on to Old Montreal, and we stopped to get a some pretzels and a drink for a snack to hold us over until dinner.

One thing we have learned is that Fred is never hungry. He can eat breakfast, and then go the rest of the day without food, which Dan and I are starving! That's why we had to make sure we stopped for a snack! lol

We went by the Bell Center which is where the Canadiens play, and then we walked down near the port. It was a beautiful day, and we had a really fun time. I got some nice pictures, too.

Then we headed back to Fred's, and we watch more Olympics while we got ready for dinner. Dan took a nap, and we left around 7:30, I think.

We went to a restaurant called Dans la Bouche, and unfortunately it wasn't my type of place. There was literally nothing on the menu that I liked, at all. It was very fancy food, served in very small servings, and I was not a fan. Dan and Fred got a small pitcher of sangria that cost $30. It was crazy. Then, they held us hostage forever, not bringing over the check.

When we left there, I planned to go to McDonald's, but then I decided I wasn't really in the mood for that anyway, so we just went to Tom's apartment, and I figured I could have something to eat when we went back to Fred's. I brought some microwavable soups with me for just such an emergency!

Fred had never been to Tom's apartment before, so he wasn't sure where it was. We found the number we were looking for, but it was all dark, and looked like noone was home. Luckily, before we rang the bell, we realized it was the wrong street!!! Luckily, we then found the correct street, and found Tom's apartment!

It was great to see Tom again, he's so nice, and so excited about everything! I can't believe it's been three years since we saw him last!

We hung out in the "backyard" of his apartment, and it really nice out tonight. We had some dessert, and talked about all kinds of stuff, like work, France, life... etc. He showed us an electric back massager that he bought in Florida, and he tried it out on us. It sends electrical impulses through your back, and makes your muscles move. It's just like what they use at the chiropractor!

When we first came out with the box, we had no idea what it was. He said behind Dan and told him he was going to try something, and Dan was very confused! As he was setting it up, Dan was nervous because he, like the rest of us, had no idea what Tom had in the box. Then Tom asks Dan, "Oh... You don't have a pacemaker, do you?" That didn't make him any less nervous!! Haha

It was actually a pretty cool little device, and I tried it, too.

We stayed there about three hours, and left around 12:30. Tom gave me a Videotron hat, which is the company he works for.

Anyway, we got back to Fred's at about 12:45, and now we are off to bed!!

Gotta leave bright and early for the drive home tomorrow! :P

Goodnight. :)
