"magic kingdom" or "dinner with nicole and heather"

Hey Journal!

Wow! When we're in Disney World, it takes so much longer to write my journal at night because so many more interesting and exciting things happen in my day!!

It's hard to remember what happened this morning, and crazy to think of all we fit into just one day!

We got up a little after 8 because our wake-up call didn't go off because Dan never hung up the phone last night after "setting" it. We got ready, and then headed down to the restaurant here for breakfast. The restaurant is called Mara and we got the "Bounty Breakfast" which consisted of a Mickey waffle, eggs, bacon, sausage, and potatoes! It was very good, and a great start to our day!

After we ate, we headed out to the Magic Kingdom! What a Magic Kingdom it is! We got there and our park tickets didn't work to let us in the gate! We had an envelope from a previous visit and my note on it said that we had two valid tickets in there, but it turned out that there was only one. Weird.

We went over to Guest Services and they checked it out. They issued us a new ticket to replace the one good one which had somehow been marked as "lost" in their system.

When we got in, we got a FastPass for Voyage Under the Sea with the Little Mermaid, and then went to check out New Fantasyland. It's pretty cool, but it's also a little surprising that even though yesterday was the "grand opening," there is still a ton of construction going on back there, and much of new Fantasyland isn't even open yet.

We rode It's a Small World, and then we went back to ride Little Mermaid. It was a fun ride, and it actually stopped for about 5 minutes while we were on it, and we were stuck right in front of Ariel dancing! We just danced along until the started back up again!

When we finished there, we went to get a FastPass for Peter Pan's flight, and then we went to visit Frank at the Grand Floridian. He is training there this week. We took the monorail around the lake to the hotel, and he was at the front desk. He gave us a "Grand" tour of the Grand Floridian, and then we hung out there for a bit and talked to him. Then we went back to Magic Kingdom.

We saw the Fairy Godmother out, so we got on line for some pictures. She was really fun. I liked her a lot, and the picture is good, too!

We were on our way to use our FastPasses at Peter Pan's flight when Dan discovered that he had LOST one of the two passes! AH! Luckily, we went over there and explained the situation to them, and they let us both in. Dan has no idea where he lost it, or how it got out of his pocket. Strange.

After that, we went over to get a FastPass for Space Mountain, and the line wasn't long so we rode it as well. When we finished, we rode one of my favorites, the TTA Peoplemover! Ahhhhh! "Paging Mr. Morrow, Mr. Tom Morrow...."

It had been a little cloudy and bleak in the morning, but after we went on Space Mountain it got BEAUTIFUL outside and the sky was such a nice blue and it was so nice and warm!

While we waited for our FastPasses to be ready for Space Mountain, we went to get some food for lunch. We ate at Pinocchio's Village Haus. We got the meatball heroes. They were very good. I got chocolate cake for dessert which had some overly chocolatey icing, so I just ate the cake underneath!

After lunch, we got a picture with the rabbit from Alice in Wonderland, and then we went to ride Space Mountain again. I have to say, this was probably one of the best Space Mountain rides ever! I loved it. We sat in the front, and it was much more exciting that the previous ride, for sure!

When we got off, we went to the Laugh Factory, and then went over to Adventureland for the Jungle Cruise. It was weird, every time we crossed Main Street today, there was a parade going on! We caught parts of so many parades!

So, we rode the Jungle Cruise, and then went to Pirates of the Caribbean!

Next, we went to get a FastPass for Splash Mountain and went to get a snack. I was so devastated that the Sunshine Tree Terrace (one of my FAVORITE spots) no longer serves the frozen orange juice. It was so great!!

Instead, Dan got a Dole Whip, and I sat in something called it "Magic Nook," and charged my phone.

Then we went to the Hall of the Presidents, and The Haunted Mansion! They redid the line and have a cool "Graveyard" area with fun things to do! Then back to Splash Mountain!

We managed not to get too wet, as soggy underwear wouldn't have been any fun for dinner! After that, we left Magic Kingdom, and headed to the Grand Floridian to meet Nicole and Heather for dinner!

The monorail was having some difficulties, so we got on line for the ferry to the Grand Floridian, instead. We had to wait for about 5 ferries, but we got there right on time.

Nicole and Heather arrived shortly after and then we had dinner at the Grand Floridian Cafe. I would never have picked that place, but it was literally the only restaurant outside of a park that had an available reservation tonight when we called a couple of weeks ago!

Anyway, I got a New York Strip steak but it was kinda gross. I didn't like the sauce, the taste of the meat, or the weird mashed potatoes it came with.

Dessert wasn't much better... actually, it was kinda worse. All I had to eat was a chocolate Mickey! It was hard as a rock, and I couldn't really eat it! Sheesh!

Other than the food being crappy, it was great to see Nicole and Heather and we had a fun time catching up! Afterwards, our mission for the evening was to check out the other hotels' Christmas decorations!

We took the monorail to the Contemporary, and then to the Polynesian. On the way, we saw some of the Magic Kingdom's fireworks, and that was pretty cool! I was very surprised that neither hotel had many Christmas decorations! I thought they went all out! Weird.

On the way back, we took the monorail to Grand Floridian, where we said goodbye and parted ways from Nicole and Heather, and then we continued on to the Magic Kingdom to get a bus back to the Animal Kingdom Lodge!

We got back around 10:30 and we went to the Mara to get drinks and then went in the hot tub! We explored a little outside, and then headed in to take showers and get ready for bed!

Now it's LATE, and we want to get up early to be at Animal Kingdom when it open tomorrow. We'll spend the morning there, and then over to Hollywood Studios in the afternoon! I hope to meet Phineas and Ferb and Jake and the Neverland Pirates! Woo Hoo!

What a packed and exciting day! And now it's 1am and I HAVE to get to bed so I can have as much energy as I had today!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
