"liz's mad hatter party"

Hey Journal!

This morning we slept nice and late! I got up around 10:30 and Dan and I watched some TV. We watched a couple of episodes of Reba and then started to get ready to go out.

This afternoon we had Liz's SURPRISE party, and Re was coming as well. At 1:00, Re came over and we went out to CVS to get some gift cards for her. We decided to get two $25 gift cards, one to the movies and one to Chili's.

After we picked out the gift cards it was time to head over to Liz's sister's house in Kings Park for the party! We got there just after 2 and her dad was also pulling up with some balloons! We parked down the street a little ways from the house in order to keep the surprise!

We went inside and said hello to her sisters and everyone. The cake arrived shortly after us and it was really cool. It was a Mad Hatter Hat shaped cake! Very cool looking. We all took pictures of it and stuff.

Liz was supposed to arrive at 2:30 but she came a little later than that. When her car pulled up... she stayed in the car for a little while and everyone was going crazy with suspense!

She rang the doorbell, which threw everyone off, and then when she came inside noone really yelled SURPRISE for a bit. IT was a bit of a delayed reaction!

After that, the party was basically a "Mad Hatter's Tea Party." We decorated our own hats with colored ribbon, feathers, and jewels. Mine came out very nice, if I do say so myself! Then we had tea and little sandwiches, and then it was time for cake! The cake was wild, and cutting it was pretty crazy! It was really good though... it had three different components... One had pudding, one had strawberry, and one had Nutella. I had the pudding one, and it was really good. There was a lot of demand for the Nutella part, but I don't like Nutella.

Liz's grandma was a lot of fun, she was telling us a story about her elementary school days and how they did the grades differently then! Also, earlier in the day, she was standing in the kitchen and her leg gave way and she just fell down! It was wild. Luckily, she was okay!

So, we had a good time, and at the end we all took a group photo standing on the staircase! We took turns adding one person to the picture each time to make a "flipbook." It was pretty funny! We got a lot of funny pictures! So random!

Then Re, Dan, and I departed.

We were a little hungry so we went to Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner. We were going to go to Red Lobster but unfortunately their wait was 45 minutes!! Crazy! And I was so looking forward to their pork chops!

I got the Naked Tenders which is my usual choice there but Re got a pizza with chicken on it that looked really good! I had a taste of hers, and it really was enjoyable! I think next time I may just go for that!

After dinner we were going to go out with Jen B or do something.... but Re wasn't feeling well so we just called it a night.

Dan and I came home and watched Reba and then I watched the Christian Amanpour special called "Back to the Beginning." It had been on TV right after Christmas, but I had it on the TiVo and never watched it...so I figured tonight was the perfect opportunity.

It was actually very interesting. I'm still mad that I missed the first part of it!

Anyway, now it's time for bed!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
